Product Description

The sequel to BridgeBasher is finally here! SimplePhysics lets you design complex structures for everything from tree houses to ferris wheels and then simulates your design with a sophisticated physics engine.

A wise person once said: "An engineer is someone who can do for a dime what any fool can do for a dollar." In SimplePhysics, your design must not only be strong enough, it must be cheap enough to win. With the built-in Leaderboards, you can also compete with people all around the world to see who can create the most cost effective designs.

Create your design in seconds with the blueprints editor. If you make a mistake, simply tap the Undo button. Zoom in and out by pinching the screen and pan the view using a two finger drag.

While testing, you can see how the strain is distributed across your design. Areas that are under immense strain are colored bright red, while other areas are colored green. This allows you to find and fix problem areas in your design.

The finger test lets you use your finger to push and pull on your design. You can use this with pinpoint accuracy, or you can just smash your design to smithereens. The finger test has an explosive new twist. You can now create explosions by tapping the screen for ultimate annihilation.

The newly added Bomb Shack level includes a dummy with full support for ragdoll physics. Throw him around, blow him up, and smash him against your design.

The slow motion feature lets you slow things down so you can see how your design is failing, and it is also incredibly fun to watch explosions destroying your design in slow motion.

This is a pretty good physics based game that lets you build 12 items and test your engineering skills. The app works well on the Kindle Fire and the graphics are good also. It is a challenging brain test and the results of playing the game can be interesting. In order to test your design you can touch the menu page in the upper RH corner and you can see the leader board, the finger test, the level description or the blueprints function. From the part of playing the game and finishing ½ of the projects, that game was pretty good and worked well.

The app lets you zoom in and out and pan to view your design. The app also has an undo button to remove a mistake. After your design is done you can use your finger to apply stress and view the results. Areas under high stress turn red while those not under high stress turn green. You can stress your design or destroy it. You even have the option of blowing up your design by double tapping the screen. Touch the hammer and it turns into an "X" that lets you remove individual pieces of your construction.

You can use a dummy and toss him around, blow him up and even toss him against your design to smash him. There is even a slow motion viewing of your design and you can view how it is failing by seeing the stress in the structure in color.

What I didn't like was four fake reviews to start off the morning at five stars. That is a turn off to any app and it is not ethical. The app also has full internet access and it uses it to:

* Take you to a built in leader board
* Take you to the Amazon App Store or the Amazon Browser to buy more of the developer's games if you use the more games button.
* The game asks you if the developer can send you an email when he releases new games.

It's a very well made game, a lot of detail, bu. suffers from a few flaws. Conceptually like Bridge Constructor Playground, you build on a grid using various materials to achieve some goal. The difference is that the challenges vary from simple things like building a staircase to a bomb shelter to reinforcing a building to withstand high winds. Kudos to the bomb shelter level with the "rag doll" physics on the crash test dummy... Neat, but sadly only one level uses it.

Placement of pieces is simple enough, but suffers the same flaws many in this field do... Especially on a phone screen., it's too easy to "fat finger" a wrong placement; an undo button helps. As you build, the costs of materials ads up; stars are awarded based on the frugality of a successful build.

It's a fun game, but unlike similar games, you don't have options of building material, it's just the one material for that level. Other games allow you to use less expensive material when strength is not as critical. The game is also woefully short, with only 13 challenges, including the tutorial. I also question some of the physics... Although it's just part of the game.

Three stars... It's a decent construction game. This game could be five stars if it varied material and would easily garner an extra if it were longer... A game like this, especially a paid app, should have at least twice as many levels.

I made it to level two and just doesn't make enough sense to be able to play it. When dealing with something that's used in everyday logic you can't change the logic part and expect people to take to it as easily. Had you put it on the moon and changed the logic of it then it'd be more understandable but explain your logic to me so I can work with that rather than not being able to do it at all. I usually love these types of apps and thought the other players were just being whiny about it but not they're right, it makes no sense. At least it was the FAotD!

I had no issue with the first level. But beyond that, the results were, at best, inconsistent and at most, inaccurate. Like others with engineering degrees, I know that in real life, my designs work just fine in the real world but fail in this game and without explanation or even a hint as to what is "missing".

Even more annoying is that I would get 3 stars on the design but it would collapse anyway.

If you're looking to be annoyed rather than challenged or if you want to play Simple FANTASY Physics" I guess you will like this game. Not understanding the 4 &5 star reviews, suspect they are shills.

I practiced civil engineering for forty years, so I was looking forward to tackling the structural designs in SimplePhysics. It was fun, and although the app does honor the general principals of structural engineering, to actually design the structures in the app, you would need a lot of experience and more information about the properties of the materials (and probably some structural engineering software). One thing that was very accurate was to create designs that could be built within a certain budget. Even if your design works, the number of stars you're awarded depends on how much under budget the structure is.

But it is a fun app with enough "bells and whistles" to keep it interesting. There are a dozen structures, beginning with what appears to be a simple treehouse and becoming more complex as you move along. I still haven't completed all of the structures. The one I'm having the toughest time with is to design a 24-story skyscraper to withstand 300 mph winds. Do you make the structure as rigid as possible, or do you design it with the "bend but don't break" approach?

The app will definitely keep you occupied for a while.
