Product Features

  • Build your own rockets
  • Explore the solar system
  • Realistic rocket and orbital physics
  • Seamlessly fly to other planets

Product Description

Design your own rocket ships. Blast off into space. Explore the solar system. See if you have what it takes to be a rocket scientist.

Choose and connect parts together to build rocket ships. You can choose from a variety of rocket engines, fuel tanks, and other gizmos. You can even build rovers with powered wheels. You are only limited by your imagination.

Blast off from any planet you want. You can fly through the intense atmosphere of Venus, or you can take advantage of the low gravity of Mercury. Whip around the sun and launch yourself out to the far reaches of the solar system.

Several challenges are built into the game so you can see who can go the fastest, fly the farthest, orbit with the least amount of fuel, land on the moon, and so much more.

Kepler wrote the equations 400 years ago, and SimpleRockets uses those equations to model extremely realistic orbital physics. Players will learn about rocket science and astrodynamics while they are having a blast exploring the solar system. This makes SimpleRockets ideal for the classroom, or as a healthy alternative to the barrage of brainless games available on the App Store.

4.0 out of 5 stars simple fun October 29, 2013

First I'm glad he gave kerbal props since it obviously inspired this game. Now the game itself. Its a simple game and certainly could use some more depth. Not tons more but more. Its easy to build rockets and fly them but it would be nice of the camera had more control and view options.

The graphics are simple but effective and it runs just fine on my aging galaxy nexus. If this wasn't today's FAOTD I would have bought it had I known it existed. Its a cool distraction for all ages and you really can't go wrong here. Nice work dev.

Oh before I forget, thank you so much for not loading the app with insane permissions. Its nice to see not all developers are info stealing scum and I happily support people like you. Once this app isn't free I'm going to buy this. You deserve the sale.

Holy Physics, Batfan! An excellent yet 'simple' physics simulator, and a lot of fun.

I don't think I've seen an app yet with such a thorough walk-through training/tutorial and explanation. Sets the bar as far as I'm concerned.

The caveat is that it has a couple of 'ads' for the developer's other apps. I'd like an option to turn those off. This is especially important since clicking one of them takes you to a screen which tells you abut the app. That screen has a "Get It" button which opens your Amazon Appstore. So if you don't have your Amazon Appstore password projected then it's very easy to accidentally purchase the other app offerings from this developer.

The game is quite attractive, and clean. Certainly the dev cares about this app, and it shows.

Summary: THUMBS UP!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Crashes on Kindle 1 September 28, 2013
Verified Purchase
This app is incredible. I found out about it through Vsauce3's Youtube series, "App All Knight", and was delighted to find it on the Amazon Appstore. I downloaded it immediately, and I was impressed. The tutorials don't feel rushed and they're not explained through pictures only ( we're looking at you, Bad Piggies). It feels like a real person is guiding you through the instructions, and even better the game feels real. When launching your rocket, you have to account for atmospheric drag and the pull of gravity. You can launch your rocket into orbit, try your luck at a moon landing (or a Smoon landing as the game calls it) or even attach wheels to your rocket and make a rover-type thingy. All in all, SimpleRockets won't dissapoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Game, not bad if you can't play KSP September 13, 2013
Verified Purchase
If you don't have access to KSP (Kerbal Space Program) at the moment, then Simple Rockets does a nice job of satisfying your lust for rocket science. I have been playing KSP for almost a year now, and have become accustomed to the mods and style of gameplay. Switching to this takes a bit of getting used to, but it is fun and the physics are pretty solid.

5.0 out of 5 stars FUN BY MAKERS DUMMY DEFENSE/SIMPLE PHYSIS, PLUS SOUND!!! September 4, 2013
Verified Purchase
Simple rockets is a great change up from DUMMY DEFENSE and simple PHYSIS and this time we have sound effects finally, the game it self is fun playing it so far u build rockets to do all types of things on planets and even the whole solar system, like u can build your rocket as big as u want it wit gizmos like searchers, wheels, fuselage, parachute, nose cones,Landers. There's 4 diff engine and fuel tanks, plus u can make all sorts of stages on your rocket and control them when ever u feel. I did a few missions so far and there easy all the way to making a rocket to leave earth fly all the way to to moon and try to land your craft. Also from orbiting planets the rite way to just fun ones like getting best time like a drag race ,on some missions or in the sand box u can speed up time up to warp times five if u want. Warp is a great thing cause depending on your ship u make and orbit plus your speed I found that a crazy orbit in the solar system can take at regular speed can take days,,, I mean real days lol it shows the time on a orbit, nice on realism! Each planet has different gravity mass , radius and atmosphere pressure that effects everything, I like the sand box mode where u can try to fly around the whole solar system even during gravity sling shots. There's so much more I could say about it that is good I think the early space missions would use this no lie on that. To rap it up it runs great on my kindle fire HD only has one permission witch ant bad at all to lot of other apps I got so this diff worth the price trust me u will get hooked after playing it, Must have app to any Physis lover and space exploration that's on point, o and anyone who likes blowing stuff up.

Update:December 19, I was the first person on here to get this app that not many knew about accept when on faotd one time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game... October 29, 2013
Verified Purchase
It is a good game-- harder than it looks. The only flaw that I can see is that the game tells me I am using an outdated version, and need to update to the most current one. Yet, Amazon shows no updates for it. Still...

This is a challenging little game.

Simple Rockets is a Highly Polished app with an Excellent Tutorial that teaches you how to Build and Operate your Rockets in a user friendly, comprehensive way. It makes it EASY to build rockets in a quick and functional manner with great Tools and Controls. Everything is explained very well and you can try test runs to get used to operating the controls. Fairly complicated. But that is to be expected in a realistic physics game, however the tutorials are badly designed, and the parts list is a tad limited. Read more

I like the daily free Amazon apps for Android phones. This is one of them. It's okay. I really would only take this for free. Just my opinion though.
