A mixed blessing, May 16, 2000
This review is from: June Anderson: Dal Vivo in Concerto (Audio CD)
With so few June Anderson recordings available these days, sometimes we must settle for what we can get. The quality of this live recording is not the highest, but in no way inhibits enjoyment of the recording. Until someone releases a full Anderson recording of Lucia (I'm sure there's one locked up somewhere), we can enjoy the magnificent selection included here. Also first rate is her Sonnambula scene. Her rendering of the Traviata scene, however, is tarnished by the squawking of the completely outclassed tenor. Also, her Semiramide aria is better (and uncut) on her live Paris concert recording with Alfredo Kraus.

Beautiful Live Performances, May 5, 2007
This review is from: June Anderson: Dal Vivo in Concerto (Audio CD)
I have to say this cd is a joy to listen to. June Anderson performs very technical bel canto singing beautifully, and does especially well with the extreme high notes. I think her high B flat and above are her most beautiful and thrilling notes. I must confess that, she sometimes sounds a little like Dame Joan Sutherland here. This is an italian import cd, which is now out of print, and very hard to come by. It is an even more precious find, since June Anderson solo cds are in very short supply. June is considered by many to be one of the greatest coloratura sopranos of the eighties and nineties. She studied to be a lawyer at yale university before deciding to devote her life full time to singing. June is a very smart and gifted Lady, with an exceptionally beautiful and agile instrument, and she was also an admirer of the great soprano Montserrat Caballe, which establishes she has marvelous taste in singers.
I love Bel Canto singing, and have heard it sung many times before, the standard bellini, donizetti, rossini fan fair, but not by June Anderson. Excellent singing throughout, beautiful radiant high notes and masterful coloratura.
Dal Vivo In Concerto is a very rare live album with excellent sound quality of June singing Bel Canto superlatively,
so I can find no reason not to recommend this album highly!
