JUNE WAYNE: A CATALOG RAISONNE, 1936-2006: THE ART OF EVERYTHING is as apt a book to honor the memory of one of the most important artists of the past century as could be imagined. June Wayne (1918 - 2011) was an artist's artist: she died on August 23, 2011 and the art world mourns her passing. Her works were varied: she was equally at home with drawing, with making tapestries, with painting and most significantly with printmaking. After exploring the concepts of the print as fine art she polished her skills as a printmaker in Paris and then returned to Los Angeles where she founded the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, publishing hand pulled lithographs with such artists as Ed Ruscha, Willem de Kooning, Louise Nevelson, Josef Albers, Sam Francis, John McLaughlin, Rufino Tamayo, Richard Diebenkorn, Romas Viesulas, Glen Earl Alps, Tetsuo Ochikubo, and Karl Schrag.

An erudite scholar about more topics than art, Wayne wrote extensively and this book of the works of this giant of an artists contains many of these writings Her methods and her art always were on the leading edge of art movements, often and further underlines the importance of the impact June Wayne had on the world of American art. In addition to the writings of Wayne this book contains two fine essays, by Robert P. Conway and by Arthur C. Danto, that aid the viewer in understanding the significance of this gifted artist.
