5.0 out of 5 stars A vital companion book for Jung's work on parapsychology, January 3, 2007

This review is from: Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal (Paperback)
I read this book prior to reading Jung's "Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle". Since most of Jung's original work has been translated & can be a bit obscure at times, this companion book offers many important insights into Jung's work. It is well written & clear, but you have to take the time to "listen" to what you are reading as opposed to just attempting to gloss over it. This companion book is extremely helpful. I highly recommend it for those attempting self-exploration or studying for degree classes in psychology.

5.0 out of 5 stars return to our own western inner traditions, July 18, 2011

This review is from: Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal (Paperback)
It is a relief to find books like his without having to seive through the 'pornographic-pysche' of the occult that is more so alot of lore and learning and books that tell nothing valuble about the astrale body. Or its counter part with the extensive material to be found on spirituality- a study of light or enlightenment and the way in which the west has been fed by Indian philosophy and yoga as if there is no study of the dark. THEY JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. Why? because it's alot easier and simpler to peddle spirituality in much the same way the caste system is kept alive and kicking with theory of re-incarnation validation of.
Jung deals with endarkenment in a meta physically-scientific sound manner that is not spooked by all the non-sense attached to what is only our collective unconscious. He states that synchronicity is co-incidence that occur to confirm the path/ your ideas if with especially a transcendentulist approach. There is alot of stuff to do with the astral body/world in Jung's writings and synchronicitys to confirm moving through another door into it.
It always struck me as naive to believe in astrology based on things like mars is red and associated with god of war/aggression etc...There is an interesting hypothesis in this book that the system of astrology and I Ching is more of an inner diagram of man's psyche within the collective unconcious that the ancients somehow traced (much as the Archtypes have been traced in the 20th century) then outwardly use as the equinoxes, etc.Facinating stuff.Could deep meditation since it devolves into timlessness somehow link up with the 'timlelessness' of man's evolution getting born out of his own collective unconcious? It's food for thought for transcendentalists and will help find and stay on the way far more than so called the holy men or the Crowleys or the Lamas who just keep a knowledge of the collective unconcious under wraps against riff-raff like you and i.
