4.0 out of 5 stars Kid's Love Animals!
I think young kids 6 years old and younger would really like this movie. Little kids love animals, let alone animals they think are talking! OK, it doesn't exactly follow the Rudyard Kiplings "Jungle Book" version, but I think this was suppose to be light and fun for young children to enjoy, not so much for us adults. My kids enjoyed watching this video over...

This was done by Disney? Wow! After so many really good films, they finally made one that the kids complained about.

The talking animals was poorly done. They should have paid more attention to other talking animals films.

My kids did not like this one very much. It was close to the original story, but just not fun. If you have little ones (under 10), you would be...

Some sample awfulness: Shere Khan stalks through the jungle, singing "one little, two little, three little Indians..." Bagheera is a girl. The wolves whistle (yes, a wolf whistle) at a pretty cub raised with Mowgli. This is so awful I had to leave the room while it was on.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A word of warming even though this movie is rate G which means for ages 6 and up I recommend you wait until you are 7 to 11 years of age or older before you watch this. Depending on how mature your kids are and how well they can tell real images from computer generated images. I grew up watching the jungle book movies and most of them that came out with the exception of the Second Jungle Book Mowgli and Baloo and Mowgli's Brothers and the cruddy animated sequel to the original Disney movie which came out in the 1950s other than these three movie all the other versions gave me nightmares for several years when I saw them. The movie Jungle boy which told the storey of Mowgli when he was a teenager especially scared me. Specifically when this giant snake statue came to life. They snake which was huge at least seven meters maybe even bigger and devoured one of the characters and another characters was either enchanted or cursed by the snake and was turned into some kind of pig. This movie has some mild racism in it as well as a couple of parts with mild adventure violence in it as well as a few brief parts with mild gory images in them. This movie tells the storey of Mowgli and how he was raised by the animals of the jungle when he was separated from his mother after they were attacked by Shere Khan. Can young Mowgli survive in the jungle with his animal friends will avoid the vile Shere Khan and his hyena minions attempt to kill the boy to get revenge on the humans that shoot Shere Khan when he was younger. Find out in the dramatic and spine tingling conclusion. There are a couple new characters in this that weren't in the original Disney version like a vulture or condor name Chili. Also some of the characters from the earlier movie versions of this story such as king Lowey the orangutan and Kaa the python from Jungle book 1 and 2 have been exclude from Mowgli's storey. In addition to that one of the main characters sex has been altered since the original movie was made in the 1950s. When jungle book was first filmed the black, panther Bagheera was original a male panther. But for some reason for in this slightly newer version which came out some time in between 1995 and 2001 Bagheera's sex was changed for male to female. If you like this I also recommend Jungle Boy and the original 50s version of the jungle book.

I can't believe Disney produced this movie. The "acting" is abysmal, the story line is predictable, and the writing stinks.

The tape was advertised as like new. The second time we played it, it went bad and would not turn on the spools. It was defective.

But then, I'm three years old. Your kids will love it. A few decent larfs for the adults, too.
