4.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!
If three artists, all experienced members of the Jazz, Rock, Funk & Electronic music scenes, were ever to come together for one night and record an album live Jungle Funk is as a good a representation as any. Vinx, Doug Wimbish & Will Calhoun joined forces April 12-14 back in 1998 to create music that is just that: MUSIC. This can not be classified or categorized. It is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Adventurous! SOME great blends of Jazz,Afican and Techno
A few songs like Prague City Lights are worth the CD alone, at times: This song has a great blend of harmonies and is more mainsteam then most of the CD. Songs like People, Research & Development, and Headfake, REQUIRE you to like Techno and are fantastic. While a song like Trance is just out there, period.

It is an amalgamation of every genre these men have ever worked with or been influenced by throughout their lives. Bringing a unique combination of Drums, Guitars, Samplers, Synthesizers & their own vocals Jungle Funk is funk for the party in the Jungle. Whether you are looking to lay back and chill with some instrumental jams, vibe out to a laid back soul number, or get your freak on on the dance floor this album has it all. With no set pattern these three men combine their musical genius to create something that I doubt could ever be done again. Overall an experience on record that can transport you to wherever you want to be and bring you back in one piece; leaving you feeling a sense of awe like you have just seen the future and the past all in one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool and groovy, June 8, 2006

This album was completely unexpected. I am not familiar with VinX's work, but very familiar with Living Colour. The album slides and grooves through the funky Wimbish bass and Calhoun drums with very soulful VinX vox over the top. It is truly one of those "albums to make love to".

If you like drums, bass and soulful funk and electronic sounds, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful diversity..., March 13, 1999

This is a great mix of sounds. The feel is between somewhere between Seal and Living Color--with a touch of Sting thrown in. Of course, having these guys associated with the aforementioned artists is part of the reason for the similarity. This is my new favorite album and I wish these guys much success--if they decide to pursue this grouping over time.

5.0 out of 5 stars really good, August 16, 2006
This review is from: Jungle Funk (Audio CD)
A great studio work.
They really used the studio abilities to make something unique.
A cool and funky sound.
Listening to this one, you'll understand the evolution between linving colour's "stain" and "collideoscope".

Just great !!!

I haven't heard this particular CD, but I've heard the tour CD they released and it has many of the same songs on it. This is a beautiful record, with some amazing songs on it. Also some good groove/ambient type stuff that's cool. Worth getting, as is everything Vinx does -- the guy is fantastic.

Hiyouare! I saw them in the concert in the Riga city. They're big! Doug Wimbish is most amazing bass player in the world, definetely. So, I don't know how the whole album sounds like, but I heard those samples and remembered the concert feeling in the same moment.. I'll definetely get this record. Promise...
