"The Other Side" is a hit for sure in some parallel universe (where the right things happen). I heard it on Pandora (Thanks again, Pandora!) and, as I always do, made a note of the artist and went researching her later. That finally lead me here to purchase her available CD's.

This CD gets right down to it with "Jungle Heart" and "Golden Box" both grabbing your attention right off the bat. Such a beautiful voice, such interesting songs. You know right away this is going to be an enjoyable journey. And I love the next number "That's The Way It Goes" -- another potential hit. All these songs feature good production values, good instrumentation and arrangements. This is top flight stuff, folks.

And it goes on and on. There is not a a bad song on this CD. Some are reflective, some foot tapping upbeat bits, all are good. In "Comfort Me" I hear the soul of NC music (and all music from the people, but those who live in the Virginia and North Carolina region will know what I mean. It's in the soil, the mountains, trees, streams, and the genes of the people here.)

On and on to end with the thrilling and delightful "Dream Mantra" -- an entrancing work which I find very appealing and effective. Kudos to all the fine musicians backing Annie on these songs, they really make it work.

This North Carolina girl has had an interesting life and has written some beautiful songs. You can use the "preview all" button here to listen and what you here is perfectly representative of what is on the CD. So, no risk. If you don't like what you hear, move on. But I think most will be pleasantly surprised and will linger. There is a tremendous amount of good song-writing going on these days and you can sample some of it right here.
