5.0 out of 5 stars buy this CD.
This album is awesome. I love it, my kids love, my cat even seems to like it. It may be that I am ethnically inclined to favor it, but whether that's true or not does not take anything away from how awesome it is. If you are reading this review then you are thinking of buying this album, BUY IT! I can't stop playing it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Religious propagandha
I purchased this album based on the recommendation of a friend. I was expecting some wicked good old-fashioned Oi! rock. It was a major disappointment. There are some songs that I enjoy, with good positive vibes and heart. "Turn the other cheek, and don't be a thug" is a message that I like. Unfortunately, these guys fall into the trap of patting themselves on the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Jungle of the Midwest Sea, July 5, 2010
Great modern music with a bagpipe twist. No bad messages or rotten lyrics in the music. I would allow my kids to listen to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The CD that truly got me into rock music...., June 21, 2007
Yep. That's the truth. Because of this album,I bought Knuckles Up and Fiends (I gave both 5 stars). I will always respect Flatfoot 56 and this album. Anyway....back to the review! They toned down the wildness that was seen in their previous album.Which is good. Don't worry, these guys still have a 'party-like-there's-no-tomorrow' style in their songs, but the songs are a little more mature than Knuckles Up and Skillet. This is still a wonderful, punk rock (or what I like to call 56...speed rock) album. 'City On a Hill' and 'Jungle of the Midwest Sea' are the some of the best in this CD. Now let's do a favor for this indie rock band, and buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Celtic Punk without politics, December 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you like Celtic punk, complete with bagpipes and mandolin, here ya go! This is quality stuff, and their live show, if you're so lucky, is always great. The guys are actually conservatives, so if you pick up on any politics or anything in the music, it's pretty conservative... so if that's a problem, sorry. But the music is quality, and they don't push much of any agenda on you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise, surprise..., October 6, 2008

I bought this album after hearing one of their songs on the internet, what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. I'm from Boston, so the Dropkick Murphy's are our set bar. These guys hit the mark. Love the album, start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, they are that good..., November 26, 2007

High energy, punk your face off music, with bagpipes. This CD is great but what you really need to do is see them live. Their shows will blow your mind. I've never had more fun at a concert. Good writing and musicianship all tied together with some old school punk in your faceness. Fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lyrically and musically amazing!, October 22, 2007
By
This is the album and band I've been waiting for. It has all the musicality and power of early Pogues, Shane MacGowan and the Popes or Flogging Molly. But even better, the music comes with a strong-- yet not preachy-- Christian message! Finally some Celtic punk that isn't focussed on getting drunk and kicking someone's teeth in, or "the troubles". I had the chance to see the band play live, and if you get the chance, I highly recommend you do likewise.

I appreciate lyrically sound music and this cd fits the build. The music is fun and it inspires me to live the Christian life. The three best songs lyrically are "Bright City", "City on a Hill", and "Hoity Toity".
Musically I appreciate the pipes and the beat of the drum. God Bless and Keep Rocking For Christ. <><

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album and band, July 2, 2007
By
Both of the Flatfoot 56 albums I have remind me of Blitz, except with bagpipes. If you like Blitz, i.e. Voice of a Generation era, you will like this, guaranteed. Walls of loud guitars blasting away, back-up vocals like the old days of hardcore music, and then add bagpipes. You simply can't go wrong.

The non-apologetic messages about the love of Christ, is refreshing too.
Highly recommend both albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality God Rock Thumping Music!!!, March 6, 2008
I stumbled onto these guys by doing a Google search for some quality celtic christian punk/rock for my nieces boyfriend and by doing so found MY new favorite band of the year! I LOVE the rock thumping drums and echoing versitility of the bagpipes, mandolin, guitar, and the like. The lyrics and vocals are equally subperb. And I love how some songs on the album use spoken vocals with an "old record flare" then follow it up with a pounding message and foot stomping blare.
Personal favorites are track 6. "Hoity Toity"...great lyrics, makes you want to stomp your feet, with fist in the air and shout 'Wake Up!' Track 14. "Same Ol' Story" for its pure heartfelt lyrics with a "pub sing along" feel. And the title track is also A+ without a doubt. I can't remember the last time I listened to an album so well compiled of songs and quality of sound. You boys ROCK!!!
