5.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. Jones Gets Smashed
I really like it. It was funny when Christopher Columbus swan to America. I thought the story was funny. My favorite part was the real play when Junie B. got all smashed up with May, Sheldon and everything. Junie B. is the best girl and the funniest girl.

4.0 out of 5 stars Confusing - in a good way!, August 25, 2006
A Kid's Review
I think that junie B. Jones realy made it sound like she was going to be the star of the play! But then everything turned around, when her part was picked she thought she got a dumb old boat. And then William sneezed in the middle of the show. It was confusing because too many things were going on!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm an old lady and I laughed and laughed and laughed, July 5, 2004

I adore Junie B. and this was one of the best books in the series.

I loved the two plot lines intertwining neatly at the end and, frankly, I laughed out loud through the whole thing. I wasn't even reading to my kids.

Every Junie B. book is fresh, never formulaic. Her grammar is better as a first grader, but she's just as funny. I'm looking forward to the next volume coming soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good theme, July 4, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Junie B., First Grader: Shipwrecked (Hardcover)
This story seemed to have a twist to it. I didn't expect for Junie B.'s class to have a shipwreck. I thought the title meant they were stuck, and felt trapped since so many kids were sick. And THAT was the shipwreck. I liked the little twist. When I read the first 2 chapters I thought: "Hey! When's this whole play deal come in???" I sort of wondered why there was no play yet. I didn't like how Junie B. wanted to be the star. Life isn't about being the star. I did like how the book added facts about Columbus's journey to America. Kids can get confused, thinking it was the Mayflower that came before the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María. AT LAST!!! A Junie B. Jones book that actually is a bit educational!!! It was a good book, except that Junie wanted to be star. (...)

4.0 out of 5 stars A good lesson..., June 1, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Junie B., First Grader: Shipwrecked (Hardcover)
I'm 10, and I love Junie B. Jones. She's really goofy. I liked this story because it shows kids how easy it is to become sick. Junie B. isn't as funny in 1st grade, but I still LOVE her. The Junie B., First Grader stories seem to be different. They have a bigger problem or plot, unlike in kindergarten. This one has a lesson to it. And it shows that even though things can be bad, but then get better, problems and "shipwrecks" can happen. Then, you gotta think fast to help fix them, or disaster can strike. What was confusing about the book was that it just ended. Just ended. It never said what the class thought about Junie B.'s "I'm Sorry" note. I don't know if they forgave her or not. I wish it did. It would make it longer. Plus, I got a bit annoyed at her when she wanted to be the STAR. Being the star doesn't mean you'll be famous or the center of attention. That's what I hate about Junie B. Overall, it's a recomended book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book! It is EXCELLENT!!, October 2, 2006
A Kid's Review
This book is about Junie B. Jones and a play. Junie is a ship in the play. The play was about Christopher Columbus and Junie says he didn't discover America. Read the rest of the book to find out what happens!

I purchased the first Junie B book to read over the phone to my granddaughter. I chuckled reading them, sent them on and her mother laughed like crazy reading them to her. Now, this book is purchased for her Kindergarten sister who has received her set, and her mother giggles just as much reading them to the next one. Yeah for Junie B. Don't know if I could pick a favorite -- other than the first one. To read Junie B is to love her. Books never get stale. Always a new idea for Junie B.

5.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. is hilarious!, March 2, 2010
Give Junie a break people! These books are supposed to be funny. My daughter is six and has always had a love for books, like me. But, these are the first books that she actually fell in love with. Yes, Junie is a brat, doesn't speak well and makes you want to give her a swift kick. But, so do a lot of other six year olds. People are getting too personal with this. If Junie B. encourages your child to want to read, read them. Ask your child questions when you are done. Make sure they understand that what Junie is doing is not right and her grammar is incorrect. Trust me, your kid will be fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute, January 8, 2009
My daughter loves Junie B. Jones! She loves the books so much she has felt the need to read them out loud to me since I don't have time to read them myself. They're cute and surprisingly funny, and this book is no exception. It's a great price, too--it would cost more to go to the movies than to buy a Junie B. book.
