I was first introduced to the delightful Junie B. Jones series by my elementary school aged nieces, and my sons have enjoyed reading these funny books, too, but my 3-year-old daughter seems her biggest fan and always BEGS for Junie B. Jones on tape in the car! I didn't think she could "get it" yet, but the 1st-person 5-year-old "improper" vocabulary of Junie B. seems to appeal to my little girl. In Book 17, "Junie B Jones is a Graduation Girl", the loveable antic-filled 5-year-old Junie B. is getting ready to graduate kindergarten with her class. She can't bear to leave her white cap and gown on the top of the fridge where her mom wants to keep it clean until the Big Day, so she tricks her Grandpa Miller into getting the box down for her, and she wears it in her room while showing off to her stuffed animal friends what a big girl she is... even able to pour her own grape juice without spilling. But oops, she gets some on her gown! And then decides to disguise the stain by covering the whole gown with similar polka dots in purple marker! She feels great about her solution until Graduation Day, when the whole class laughs at her "clown gown" until she cries. The story has a delightful, happy ending. Haven't read/listened to #18 yet that I remember, sorry no review!
