5.0 out of 5 stars Growing Up
The 16th adventure in Barbara Parks' collection of Junie B. Jones books continues in grand fashion. Junie B. becomes the Captian of Room Nine's field day. Competition seems too much for Room Nine to handle but ultimately Junie B. and her friends are able to see what being a true winner really is. 3.0 out of 5 stars A little bit sad, and a little bit cute.
Junie B. Jones is Captain Field Day is a cute book. Similar to the other Junie B. books. My daughter thought this was sadder than the others. Room 9 lost ALL of the events. But before Field Day came, Junie B thought that they would "cream Room 8". Junie B. is a crazy as ever. Still a fun book for young readers.

Competition seems too much for Room Nine to handle but ultimately Junie B. and her friends are able to see what being a true winner really is. The latest Junie B. story is filled with the same fun humor and kindergarten antics but this particular journey allows all of Room Nine to grow up just a little.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Field Day, May 14, 2003
A Kid's Review
Did you ever think of being the captain of field day? You can find out in Junie B. Jones is the Captain of Field Day! What it is like. The author of this book is Barbra Park. A kindergartener named Junie B. Jones just happens to be the captain of Field Day! Boy, she is so excited to be captain that she just can't wait! She and her team have bad luck right away. Room 8 has a strong kid that can do any thing! But that's not the end of field day!

I like this book because Junie B. is not a sore looser and she has fun. Also she does not cry!

I think the authors purpose in writing this book is to show people that you should not judge a person when you don't know what they can do. You should read this book to find out more!

5.0 out of 5 stars love this book, November 6, 2009
A Kid's Review
hi!i am a 3rd grader. i love the Junie B. series. "Junie B Jones is Captain Field Day" is my favorite book out of Junie B's. It is my favorite because it has a lot of action. Junie B is always really funny. Junie B. and her class each have to pick a piece of paper out of the basket. When Miss gets to Junie B. with the basket, she puts her hand in and feels around until her hand gets tingly to select the captain paper. Junie B. screams a lot. Most girls would love junie b.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unlikely Hero, April 20, 2002

I chose to make this the first Junie B. Jones book I read and I wasn't disappointed. Junie B. is a realistic portrayal of an amusing and cute kindergartener. She's can also be rather precocious and self-centered at times and this story teaches an important lesson about not being that way. The ending was surprising and in my opinion pleasant, although everything did not work out the way Junie had hoped, an unlikely hero emerged. As for Junie B.'s dialect, she speaks it like it is and I would agree that parents should probably monitor reading of these stories. Neverthless, that doesn't detract from a great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ta Da, Junie B. Is Here Again, May 21, 2001
By A Customer
Wonderful, honest, and energetic Junie B. Jones is so excited about Field Day, even though she's not quite sure what it is. She gets even more excited when through the luck of the draw she is made "Captain Field Day." Junie B. and her classmates come up with a plan for their competitions, and, in Junie B.'s usual style, things don't go quite as planned. Another winner from Barbara Park.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unacceptable., March 26, 2011
Page 20, "I runned straight back to the sink..".

Do they bother to run a spell check before they publish a book? Completely agree with J. Ballweg.

5.0 out of 5 stars We came here to have fun!, January 10, 2008

That's what Junie's teacher says. But the fun of Field Day is elusive to the always competitive Junie B. Jones who wants to defeat room 8! How can they do that when the other class keeps winning every single event?

As captain, Junie must come up with some ideas to turn the tide. And since the ideas are coming from the always just-a-bit-confused Junie, big laughs will follow.

Junie B. Jones Is Captain Field Day is another winner from Barbara Park, that is sure to teach young readers about sportsmanship, and how not to do things the Junie way!
