5.0 out of 5 stars A review by an 8 year old girl
It is a very funny book about a girl named Junie Beatrice Jones except she just likes B. and that's all. She has trouble controlling her temper and excitement. Sometimes she yells out "YOU'RE A DUMB BUNNY!" and she calls her teacher "Mrs."...she has another name too but Junie B. just likes Mrs. and that's all. One day Mrs. said, "Boys and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible! Bad grammar, language, and behavior.
Junie B. Jones is the worst (or should I say "worstest", like she would?) example for children. She's bratty, mouthy, and acts and talks like a future juvenile delinquent. As other reviewers said, she calls other kids fat, stupid, and dumb. She uses poor grammar, and no, all kids do not talk like that! My three-year old uses better grammar than Junie. I got a bad...

One day Mrs. said, "Boys and girls, please take your seats. I've got a wonderful surprise!" "IS IT JELLY DOUGHNUTS?" Mrs. put her finger to her lips and that means be quiet. "YEAH ONLY GUESS WHAT? JELLY DOUGHNUTS ARE MY MOST FAVORITE EXCEPT I ALSO LIKE OTHER KINDS!" After that, my mouth got very drooly and some drool fell on the table. I wiped it up with my sweater sleeve. Just then there was a knock at the door. Mrs. hurried to open it. "HEY, IT'S A..." to find out who it was...read the book! You didn't expect ME to tell you!

5.0 out of 5 stars I like Junie B. -- BUT . . ., December 27, 1998
By A Customer
Like the other Junie B. Jones books, this one was easy to read and funny. However, I really didn't like the extended discussion about whether Mickey Mouse (etc.) is real -- my 6-year-old reader didn't need to find that out from a book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. teaches some important career development lessons., September 25, 1996
By A Customer
This book is an excellent resource for elementary counselors and teachers.
It uses a humorous approach to issues such as gender bias, dignity in all
work, and career exploration. Both adults and children will laugh at Junie B.'s creative
interpretations of the world of work. This book is a great springboard for discussion at home or in
the classroom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. Jones and Her Big Fat Mouth, November 29, 2000

This book is a great teaching tool... how NOT to act in school... read it and enjoy. All the Junie B. Jones books are irreverant and poke fun at ourselves as well as being great to read together with your child... laugh and learn TOGETHER!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't knock Junie B. Jones books - they are a great read., November 15, 2005
A Kid's Review
Junie B. Jones are great books for ANYONE to get hooked on. Junie B. may have bad grammer, but it makes the book more realistic. Children know that bestest, runned, and broughted are not real words. Those kind of words just make reading more interesting. Kids can learn from bad examples too. It's ironic that parents don't protest against Hansel and Gretel or other books like that and how children run away without permission.

"Junie B. Jones is cool. I was her for halloween." says a six year old 1st grader. Junie is a funny kid that gets in trouble sometimes. But who doesn't ever get in trouble? These books show children how to deal with kids like her. Barbara Park's series isn't just funny, it's like a trap that gets kids reading all day long.

- Written By two fifth graders from Glen Oak Elementary who want to stick up for children.

I got a bad feeling from the first page of the book. She says she doesn't like her middle name, Beatrice. Great, that's very close to my daughter's name, Beatrix.

My other daughter bought this book from a school book fair. I'm very disappointed that they had these abysmal books available for kids. It's going in the recycling.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junie B.'s character is counter to all you've tried to raise your kid to be thus far..., September 25, 2009
Last night my child and I sat down to read this book at bedtime. She is 6 and has just started the 1st grade. I would say for her age she is a good reader. I sat quietly on her bed listening to the 1st few pages of My Big Fat Mouth and afterwards I was just done hearing from this book. I could not believe what I was hearing coming from my child. I told her she was not allowed to check any more from this author out at the school's library. I don't know what the parents of the positive reviews are thinking. Maybe they have older kids who find the humor in this. I just think it lends to my child acting out, speaking slangly and disrespecting authority. Not to mention she may think "hided" is a word. I'm serious, it is amazing people find it cute. When folks read this book out loud it's sad to hear it spoken, but it's much worse to hear your child struggle to read it, as a beginning reader, and it's the words you don't want them to say or read!!!!I have punished her for this talk. Why is okay to put it in the mouth of a kindergartener??? Unfortunately there a few Junie B.'s out there in classrooms across the states and they are known mostly for getting into trouble and our teachers' worst nightmare. This book is not for 4-8 year olds it is for 8+ year olds and even then I'm not sure if the influence is a positive one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Glad we didn't buy it, August 28, 2009
I got this book from the library to give me something to read my kindergarten for her daily reading. We got through about half of it this afternoon and won't be finishing it. I'm already constantly correcting her English so reading a book where the main character uses poor English may be realistic, but not helpful to young kids. I also found I had to constantly skip over or modify words like stupid, hate, shut up, dumb, etc. Junie is just not a very good example to children her age. Even my daughter mentioned during the book "She's not being very nice." So at least she gets that! But we'll be looking for a book where the main character is a better example.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, April 11, 2007
A Kid's Review
If you read Junie B. Jone books and you like them then I recommend this book for you! It's about Junie B. having a bad week. When she gets in fights she says bad stuff. She got in trouble because she was yacking her mouth off in school. On Monday it is job day and Junie B. Jones said that she has the best job. But what is the job? Well read and find out if Junie B. Jones can find the best job that she was talking about and stop saying bad stuff. Recommended for 6 and up.
