5.0 out of 5 stars Hip-Hip-Hooray for Junie B.
I am a children's librarian and a mother of two young children. I recently discovered Barbara Park's wonderful books. Junie B. Jones and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying was the first of her books I read. I have never laughed so much while reading a book. My children loved it. I then read it to my son's second grade class. The students and teachers were instant Junie B. fans...

2.0 out of 5 stars bad message
I generally dislike the Junie B. Jones books because of the terrible grammar and Junie B's bad behavior. However, the books are funny, and my daughter loves to read them, so I don't make a big issue of it. We correct the grammar as we read along.

This book contained a passage that really bothered me. Junie B. gets in trouble, and her mother asks her to...

The students and teachers were instant Junie B. fans. They clamored for more. The students are now checking Junie B. Jones books out from the library and keeping me informed on which ones they have read. I now visit school and read to them once a week, and they always request more of Junie B. Jones. I say Hip-Hip-Hooray for Junie B. and thank you Barbara Park for giving us such funny, touching stories. You have helped so many children discover the love of reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. Jones is absolutely hilarious in this adventure!, September 14, 1998
By A Customer
If you have ever thought about making sneaky peeky spying your business, you had better read this book! In this story Junie B. Jones spies on her grandpa and Mrs., her teacher. She finds herself in all kinds of T-R-0-U-B-L-E! This book is a great read especially if you read it outloud to another person. Enjoy this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leads to quality time with my son, May 17, 2000
This is my Kindergarten son's favorite Junie B. book, although he loves them all. He laughs out loud at Junie B's antics and loves pointing out her grammar mistakes. I love Junie B. books because it helps initiate conversations with my son about his Kindergarten. I'll ask questions like, 'Has anyone in your class ever done anything like that'. This particular book led to interesting discussions about how grown-ups make mistakes too and whether someone goes to jail for a minor crime (that's all I will say without giving it away). Enjoy Junie B. - she's charming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. is Funny!, July 23, 2000
A Kid's Review
I really like this book because it's funny. My sister reads it to me, and I laugh at it every time we read it . I liked the part where Junie B. was showing Grace how great of a spier she was and then that Grace did a huffy breath at her and she said "OOps. I heard your nose wistle, Grace." I also like the part where she scares her grandpa. I like all of the Junie B. Jones books that I have read.

5.0 out of 5 stars outrageously bizarre, January 28, 1999
By A Customer
This book was outrageously bizarre and I give it 5 stars. This book is about a little girl who is in Kindergarten and she loves to spy on people. She also spied on her teacher once at the grocery store. Junie saw her teacher doing something that she thought her teacher wasn't supposed to do because Junie had done something before just like that. But she didn't tell anyone what her teacher did because she would get in trouble and she's petrified that Mrs. (her teacher) will go to prison and she doesn't want that to happen. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend this book to everyone!

This book contained a passage that really bothered me. Junie B. gets in trouble, and her mother asks her to apologize. Junie B. says: "A 'pology is the words I'm sorry. Except for you don't actually have to mean it. 'Cause nobody can even tell the difference." What kind of thing is that to tell a child?! I'm glad we were reading this together so we could discuss that idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 5-year-old son loves Junie B., March 20, 2000
By A Customer
Tonight we finished our 4th volume, and right after my son went to bed I ordered the other 10. I suppose I can understand a previous reviewer's concerns that in some ways these books may not be optimal for beginning readers. I have to say, however, that my son, who only recently turned 5, understands that Junie speaks like a child, and has no problem distinguishing Junie's "voice" from those of the several dozen other chapter books we've shared. He understands that this is not the way grownups speak, and that Junie does not use "proper" English. I do not believe that my son is so fragile that his verbal skills (or his sense of morality) are somehow threatened by exposure to a fictional character who thinks and speaks the way he and his friends do. My son - initially reluctant to hear these stories because they were about a girl - has definitely connected with the character. Read these wonderful books! You'll find them sweet, funny, smart, senstive, and - yes - even moral.

5.0 out of 5 stars Junie B. Jones Spy, October 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Very good! Loved the confusion she creates. I think that's exactly how a child would think and feel. This book like all the others is very entertaining. I like to pull my grandchildren away from the TV, Techno world from time to time and this book helps me do it. They read the book with me and then they re read it by themselves. We have a wonderful time with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, very child friendly!, April 23, 2010
I just finished reading this book with my second graders. They thought it was halerious and so did I. Junie's point of view seems so authentic to the way children view the world especially with her mixing up words and invented grammar. It gave my students an opportunity to point out examples incorrect pronouncations of words as well.
