If you're a big fan of AM country radio, country TV videos and country top-10; bypass Junior Brown and search elsewhere for black-hat, salon-manicured, honky-tonk wanabees. Junior's baritone is as sincere as that of Ernest Tubb (That's Easy For You To Say). And speaking of commercial country, what ever happened to goofy hillbilly music? Whatever happened to "Don't step on my blue suede shoes" fun? Try `My Wife Thinks You're Dead' with the line "cause you're wanted by the police, and my wife thinks you're dead." Junior plays some sort of morphed electric slide guitar which allows him to pick strings while sliding alone the neck of the steel guitar. The combination is dazzling (My Wife Thinks You're Dead). `Lovely Hula Hands' is a sweet melodic ride: Junior's loving baritone with romantic and oh-so-gentle slide guitar chords. The surprise on Junior High is the instrumental `Sugar Rag.' Here, Junior sets the country two-step ablaze with Jimmy Hendrix and Jimmy Page freak-out gusto. The CD contains just 5 cuts - 5 compositions with a stylistic homage to the Grand Ole Opry, all delivered in the spirit of rock'n'roll.

A must for anyone who enjoys telecaster country-pickin' and rockin' tele squawkin'"gitar".Junior High is a great addition to any guitar music CD collection. It's also a must for those who already know and love the artist and have some of his CDs. For those who've never hear him? A great "starter CD". We came upon Junior Brown in a late afternoon traffic jam headed into Ft. Worth, Texas. The radio was tuned to FM and the DJ had exquisite taste. All of a sudden there's Junior Brown country pickin' and J-I-M-I H-E-N-D-R-I-X-i-n" with some guit-steel pickin'! The traffic jam turned out a "good thang" that day--so's we could grab a pen and write the name of the "album" and the artist down safely. After the traffic jam ended we drove to the hotel but befo' we unpacked, we ran to a nearby "record" store that just happened to have Junior Brown's "Junior High" in the rack. It's all good ---real good but for us Sugarfoot Rag---"hit the note"---as Brother Duane Allman used to say.Junior High Get the CD & do yourself a favor and check Junior Brown and band out next they play live at a venue near you. Really enjoy his old style country voice. Brings back memories of spending time in the old local VFW hall with my grandparents and listening to the old classics on the Juke box. I now have his entire collection and love every last one of them.

This is my favorite cd of all time when I am driving down the highway with the top down I have "Highway Patrol" Blaring from my Rockford 15's. The whole cd is packed with great songs and everyone should have a copy! I can relate to all the songs on the cd on a level that most people wouldn't be able to understand. This cd and I have a connection and there is no way I can part with it, I feel that I want to do my job on the HIGHWAY PATROL! This Cd Rocks.
