Not the real deal?,

Well, I was please to find this song available for download, but this is definitely not the version of the song that enjoyed radio play during the 70s and that I once owned on 45 RPM vinyl! When I first noticed the differences (slight change in voice timbre, lyric changes such as "up north, down south", etc.) I thought it might just be that my near-phonographic memory was finally failing me. Then I found a YouTube video with the version I remember, and I knew for sure that this was not what I listened to as a youngster.It's rather like seeing a movie that is "based on" a book but changes and/or leaves out some of the better parts here and there. For those who have not read the book, the movie might be terrific. For those who have, it's at best so-so. Therefore, if you have never heard Larry's original recording of this tune, you're in for a treat. Really, I mean that. If you do, however, remember the way he recorded it in the 90s, you'll be a little disappointed (at least if you practically memorized every nuance the way I do when I like a song.)
