5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book For Wholesome Cooking I've Found, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Junk Food to Real Food: A Blueprint for Healthier Eating (Paperback)
I spent years looking for just this kind of book. A woman who owned a used book shop at about 106th and Broadway in New York City introduced me to this book in 1990. At that time Ms Nostrand, a nutritionist consultant, had published it herself. After I started using it, I was so impressed that I sent her a letter. In her reply she explained that it took her ten years to write it. I can believe this since it is that well written. I've always thought that this book should have received mass attention world wide. It is truly a jewel of a book by providing the basic information for preparing and cooking food in a way that has been lost in the commercialised junk and processed food world in which we live.

I live in London now and this kind of book has not existed until lately. It provides a great deal of common sense and how-to advice in great detail for basic cooking that has been lost for foods we should be eating but are not. She sets the foundation for creating further as she has done herself in feeding her family healthy and wholesome meals. Her original title was "A Handbook for Improving Your Diet" which was a perfect and modest description for her effort to re-orient eating habits toward a more healthy direction in a slow and progressive manner. I would recommend this book to everyone. It re-opens the lost art of food emphasis and preparation that has been missing in our commercialised food world.
