5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and creative
Eldershaw has an amazing imagination! She teaches you how to recreate old jewelry, like turning an old chain necklace into a glittering necklace with as many dangling pieces as a charm bracelet.

What is especially useful is her chapter on how-to projects. She shows "how to make a number of pieces form 'junk' that is not too hard to find"(p 37). Had you...

3.0 out of 5 stars not "Extraordinary"
I love repurposing jewlery, creating from found objects and mixing techniques, scrapbooking, collage, clay, beading, soldering with old jewlery pieces and yard sale finds, home depot, rocks, whatever. I thought this book would give me new ideas and was excited to find it at my library. "Extraordinary" it was not. If you've dabbled at all with this concept, you're past...

If you've dabbled at all with this concept, you're past the basic projects in this book. If you've never gotten the urge to cut apart an Altoid tin, break some glass, tear a page from your dictionary, take an old key and grab that old chain belt to make a necklace, then the finished pieces might inspire you start to play with the stuff around you.

What is especially useful is her chapter on how-to projects. She shows "how to make a number of pieces form 'junk' that is not too hard to find"(p 37). Had you ever considered adding antique hardware to a necklace, for example? Or making a paperclip necklace?

I bet you could share this book with your young daughter and really enjoy a day of making jewelry.

LOTS of fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars neat book, December 14, 2010

This was a pretty neat book showing how to take random things you might have around the house or in your jewelry box and make a unique piece of jewelry out of them. I would think it best for someone who is an beginner/intermediate jewelry crafter.

I found great ideas to refresh my old jewelery and to create great personalised gifts. Junk Jewelery is a great gift in itself.
