About the Author

After thirty-four years as a school psychologist and teacher, Jackie Plusch founded Clutter Cutter, a service which helps individuals and groups manage space, time, and materials. Jackie soon recognized that her clients were wasting far too many hours handling unwanted mail and phone calls. In response, she developed three surefire ways to help them fight back and reclaim that time for themselves. In Junk Mail Solution, she shares her secrets.

Jackie received her bachelor’s degree from Alfred University, and her master’s degree from Syracuse University. She worked as a teacher, a clinical psychologist at a mental health center, and a school psychologist in Illinois, before moving to Arizona where she worked as a program coordinator and teacher until she retired in 1997 and started Clutter Cutter.

An outdoor enthusiast with a professed desire for adventure and sailboat racing, Jackie was an officer in the Arizona Outdoor and Travel Club, a non-profit organization that helps people enjoy such activities as hiking, biking, camping, skiing, backpacking, water sports, and off-road trips.

Jackie Plusch is a professional organizer, and a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and the Arizona Professional Organizers Association.

The information and postcards in Junk Mail Solution work wonders. My mother was on every mailing list imaginable. Thanks to Junk Mail Solution, she now receives almost none. And stopping the junk mail was so easy! I'd recommend the book to anyone who wants to reduce the time spent each day sorting through mail. And you'll save a tree as well.

Junk Mail Solution explains how we wind up on so many solicitation lists and shows how to get off those rolls. The greatest value of this book is in the signs and pre-addressed post cards. There are signs to place near the telephones to remind you to utter the nine magic words. And there are cards to mail to the 26 list maintenance companies and list associations.

Of course, if you are a direct mailer or telemarketer, you may learn to breach some of these defenses. :)

Don't waste your time and money buying this book. It is seriously out of date. Many of the companies listed have moved or gone out of business. She has tear-out postcards for mailing to list distributors or consumer databases. I had to double check every address on the internet, and many had changed. The best internet source for up-to-date business addresses seems to be the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I thought this book would tell you the inner workings of the consumer mailing list industry, but all she says is that there are 50,000 different mailing lists out there, and you can get off of some of them by sending out the postcards attached in the book.

Buy another book instead of this one.
