Dubfire and Sharam create lovely, funky grooves that stretch out forever into confident, seductive soundscapes -- as evidenced by their extensive remix work for artists such as De'Lacy ("Hideaway" - a bona fide club smash), Kristine W ("Land Of The Living), and EBTG ("Wrong") who also collaborate on "The Future Of The Future (Stay Gold)" - the first single from "Junk Science". The other singles, "Stranded" and "Mohammed Is Jesus...", elevate club music to a higher plane.

The Deep Dish positive vibe is more laid back than the prog trance tendencies of early collaborator BT, though both artists have the same deft touch at creating expansive atmospheric dance music. Deep Dish achieves what Brian Eno's ambient experimentation did in the 70's: use technology to open up space and promote peace of mind and creativity. Deep Dish evolves those intentions for today's beat crazy audience. Definitely a "best of genre" cd! Outstanding track: "Chocolate City (love songs)". Ten and half minutes of sublime perfection.

By some fluke or miracle, the cheese factory of Washington DC managed to produce two of the most music-minded, inventive, and cunning producers on the dance music scene. Unlike many of their contemporaries, who clutter their tracks with electric guitar samples and try so hard to be "edgy", Deep Dish are not afraid to make beautiful music. Using subtle but effective variations on the house 4/4 beat, emotive melodies, and a keen ability to make machines sound organic, Dubfire and Sharam have created an album that is just as appropriate for the home stereo as it is for the club.

Shifting seamlessly from house tracks to abstract sound pieces, like the title track and "Persepolis," "Junk Science" plays on Deep Dish's strengths, including an unwavering attention to detail and a flawless ear(s) for melodies.

"Summer's Over", which follows along from the wonderful collaboration between Deep Dish and Everything But the Girl ("Future of the Future") is simple but stunning, as is "Stranded", one of several tracks featuring sound engineer Richard Morel on vocals. The album melds from one pace to the next, before ending with three solid dance tracks, including the classic "Wear the Hat", which utterly fails to show it's age. This is not a screaming queen diva convention (not that there's anything wrong with that), and it is anything but cheesy. Even if you've never purchased a dance album, single, or record in your life, you should check out "Junk Science."

It's been out for a couple of years now but still cuts you open with it's unadultered originality and funkiness.

Junk Science has it all. Personally I'm not a great fan of Tracy Thorn (who sings on Future of the Future) but that is my only complaint on what is a seamless soundtrack to any film you could ever imagine.

Atmospheric, trancy and funky. Junk Science will open your mind to the quality and originality of Deep Dish. If you are more interested in a club-friendly set then get Yoshiesque, their killer double album. Can these chaps do no wrong?

After hearing the One Nation Under House compilation under the Twisted label I was expecting something different. The new Stay Gold remix is great but the rest of the album didn't leave much of an impression on me. It's overall very down tempo and the flow is very choppy with empty ambient tracks. Unfortunately I found it very boring. Good for background music maybe but I doubt that these tracks will ever come up in the clubs, especially with the trend to harder house music.

Proving that Deep Dish are no one-trick ponies, Dubfire and Sharam release their own album of original music, which features thumping house, mid-tempo grooves, and ambient touches. These Washington, D.C.-based DJs bring to the table much more than beats and rhythm; they compose well-structured melodies that carry these tracks. "Mohammed is Jesus," "The Future of the Future (with Everything but the Girl)" and "Susuhi" feature Deep Dish doing what they do best: thumping house with a disco twist. But they also serve up a really seductive ambient number in the title track, and the downtempo "My Only Sin" is downright infectious and hypnotic. This CD didn't compltetely grab me at first, but, as with all good CDs, it grows on you.

I heard a portion of this CD on the way to Jamaica on Air Canada's own music selection. It made the trip shorter from Toronto. I was just able to buy it though. It is a good CD for driving, listening at home or even when you're getting your mate in the mood. This one's a keeper

This album is in one word COOL. However it is not consistent and sometimes a little bit dorky and thus the rating. Tracks 7 and 11 are my personal faves and serve as excellent driving music, especially with a sub. Worth checking out if you like their other work.

Not only is their later music much better, I take real issue with the lyrics to "Mohammad Is Jesus"; they don't conform to reality!

Haven't had a chance to hear the hole CD but the single Mohammad is Jesus has been quite popular in Mexican Radio. I think it's a great song. Sounds great and it's a breath of fresh new music.

After hearing Stay Gold with Everything but the girl, I had to get this CD. I love that song still, but it made me wish Deep Dish had collaborated with EBTG on every track. Perhaps then the rest of the CD would have felt a little more focused and not so generically boring.
