Book Description

March 15, 2011

The fashion label Junky Styling grew out the authors’ passion for transforming secondhand clothing into innovative fashion statements that showcase the wearer’s individual style and flair. In this book, Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager record the origins of the company, from the clothes being worn by the authors in London clubs in the nineties to a small retail shop to a successful fashion label. This beautifully illustrated book also shows readers how they can perform “wardrobe surgery” by deconstructing, recutting, and completely transforming their discarded clothes and fabrics into inspired designs.

Whether you are a fashion student, home sewer, entrepreneur, environmentalist, or serious fashionista, Junky Styling is both a practical resource and a thought-provoking inspiration that will guide you through a completely new way of looking at the relationship between clothes, resources, and style.

"It’s inspirational to see what you could do with an old suit and a bit of imagination."—Independent Online

About the Author

Anni Sanders and Kerry Seager are co-directors of the successful fashion label Junky Styling which began when the two friends began buying men's suits from secondhand shops and reconstructing them into experimental creations to wear to London clubs in the early 1990s. Their unique creations attracted so much interest that they opened a retail shop which eventually became their own fashion label in 1997.

High-profile Junky Styling clients include Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Sienna Miller, Gwen Stefani and Russell Brand. Junky Styling has been featured at London and Paris Fashion Weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Design Play, January 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Junky Styling: Wardrobe Surgery (Paperback)
Refreshing design tome to pique the interest of my daughter, a theatrical costume designer. Perfect designer play: taking the ordinary as it is and imagining it in a new role. Consider taking an old tailored jacket and turning it upside down with the hem forming a flipped-out collar and the neckline providing a cinched waist. New possibilities, humor, and the thrill of thriftily recycling that which was well-made to begin with.
