5.0 out of 5 stars Junqueira's Basic Histology is a great book March 4, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This text is one of the most valuable texts in my collection. The different types of pictures (electron microscopy, slides of H & E or silver stains, etc) encourages learning anatomy more in-depth. The picture and print quality is crystal-clear.
The Junqueira's Histology text does an excellent job of teaching you about the human body because it ties anatomy and physiology concepts to actual pictures of cells and tissues. It is both an anatomy text and a microscopic histology text, all in one.
Also, I found the concepts to be more up-to-date than most of my other so-called "current" anatomy and physiology texts.

The book arrived promptly from the seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressed! September 11, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I already had a histology textbook and figured I didn't need to buy another. Well after looking at another student's text (this one) I was impressed by how in depth it was and the material it covers. I like this book and would recommend it to others!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very Good Atlas as well as Text April 17, 2013
By A. khan
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I always try to have a look inside books before buying on Amazon . Before buying this Atlas , i compared it with DiFore , BRS Cell biology and histology , Wheater's and others . i was a little skeptical but after receiving the book i was glad to have chosen this one . The text is excellent with all the required basic histology as well as pertinent clinical implications. I also liked the diagrams , electron Scans and images . Some reviewers have said that the images are not as good as some other atlas but i dont agree with them . I have studied this Atlas in detail for understanding histology for USMLE exams and I didnt see any deficiency in the images , diagrams and Scans and it clarified my concepts of many things which i didnt know before despite passing Step1 and Step 2 Ck exams. For the first time it clarified my understanding of the structural and functional histology of Bone , hematopoiesis , lymphoid organs ( specially Lymph nodes and Spleen organization ) , Skin , Connective Tissues , and Cellular organelles like details of Ribosomes , mitochondria, golgi cisternae and the Roguh and smooth endoplasmic reticulum , though i had studied those chapters in other histology books and atlases . One thing i liked the most is the initial chapter of different types of Stains and Microscopies ( e.g Dark Filed , Light , Fluorescent , Scanning Electron , Transmission Electron etc ) and immunohistochemical techniques. That was the main thing which helped me in understanding the ways we study and interpret histological organization and details . The only complaint I have is with the ink used in the printing of the text . Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful text and pics December 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I like this book a lot. It gives me more detail than I find in my anatomy book. I find that because it magnifies the subject matter closer, it allows me to learn anatomy and physiology better and quicker. Sometimes in a anatomy text it, the diagrams are not clear on the labeling due to the macro prospective of the book. In this book, it magnifies the subject matter, allowing for greater understanding of anatomy and physiology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Text November 15, 2012
This text was absolutely amazing. It is written concisely and at a high enough level for a senior level course, while still being understandable. HIGHLY recommended for anyone taking a Histology course who wants this as their main text or as a supplement or even anyone interested in this field. This one was a keeper and was not sold back.
