5.0 out of 5 stars very original, inspired sound and lyrics
Heard this disk playing at a party in Boston. I had never heard of "Jupiter 88". I was amazed to hear that if was a local band on a small label. I'm anxiously awaiting the follow-up disk. This band is obviously going places.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yuck
I really don't like this CD - the songs had a weird beat. There was almost no music, it was almost all singing. The songs had too many sound effects - probably about the first thirty seconds of track 2 was the sound of a tractor. Don't buy this CD. It stinks.

5.0 out of 5 stars More where this came from..., January 2, 2004

If you liked this album and wondered where a follow-up cd would possibly lead, there's an answer. The second cd by Jupiter 88, RedGo, was released last year by Sublingual Records and Unit Circle Rekids--available at either website.

Jupiter 88's self titled was just a warm up for RedGo. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars deliciously postmodern, October 20, 2002

Be forewarned, jupiter88 is an intellectual experience as much as it is an auditory one. Chockablock with allusions, meta-tributes and extremely clever soundplay, this is smart and innovative music.

Consider David Foster Wallace's novel Infinite Jest, as opposed to the recommendations of Oprah's book club. If this breed of postmodernism is your cup of tea, by all means invest in jupiter88's self-titled album.
