5.0 out of 5 stars Product is great, but don't get on their automated phone service ever
I love the actual product as it works perfectly with my husbands cell phone, clear, no static, excellent, but there's a huge problem.
It comes with many adapters but unfortunately none fitted mine. So they reccommend you call with the make and model of your cell phone, to order one for only $2.99 to cover shipping and handling.
This is where it all went...

I live in DC and on just about every dial we have a radio station which is not good for the jupiter jack trying to steal the frequency. Both station it has you use are close to very powerful stations here so even though you are not on the same frequency they still come through. I am not here to say I am dissapointed in the product I just wish it was a little stronger. I am sure it would probably work in a more rural area where there are not as many stations but for DC it is not the best choice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea.....Poor Reception, October 28, 2009
This review is from: Jupiter Jack (Electronics)
Anyone considering this already well knows the dangers of driving and talking on your ever present cell phone. No matter what kind of dexterity and alertness you may have been blessed with, you are still challenging fate every time you decide to talk on the phone and drive. A tree or a telephone pole is just begging for your acquaintance the whole time. I picked up one of these Jupiter Jacks (stupid name) at a local discount store here. I drive a car with a stick shift that makes it extra hard to hold onto a phone and shift at the same time. For starters let me say that the Jupiter Jack, (JJ) is a very well thought out unit in its design. It mounts easily just about anywhere, while at the same time it is not so big and intrusive that it either gets in the way, or should spoil the looks for those of us more fashionably minded about our cars. It also has a good universal design for holding just about any kind of cell phone, and it comes with a variety of jacks for fitting your particular phone. The set up with your radio should take about 5 minutes once you have installed in on your dash.

Unfortunately when it comes to JJs actually doing what it is supposed to do, the show is pretty much over after the above opening number. Despite the commercial on TV offering the impression that it pretty much transmits through your car radio as easily as a local station, it doesn't come through any where near that clearly in real use. The signal does pretty much what cell phone signals do when you are driving around talking. They fade in and out and draw static here and there. Only with the JJ, it happens that much more often. When I installed mine I took a drive for about 30 minutes and called several people. None of the calls were what I would label a success, or came off as much of an improvement on JJs claims. Two of the calls withered and died, and I had to call them back the old fashioned way. Even when the JJ completed a call, the sound quality coming from the speakers was not any where near the fidelity of your regular stations. Not really full of static, but somewhat cheap and hard to decipher. I really didn't make any distinction between the quality of calls being disrupted by stronger signals close by, or just JJ being a piece of junk. Contrary to what the commercial I have seen says, my unit had two different frequencies that you could choose from. That may help those that are being interrupted by stations horning in on your signal, but it will not improve the technology of the JJ which is unfortunately not that good.

In conclusion, the JJ is a very good idea that has your safety and convenience in mind. Whether you decide to take a chance on this unit or not, you shouldn't be driving and talking at the same time. But as far as recommending the JJ, it's my opinion that in most cases you will be sorely disappointed. You will most likely find its habit of working and then not, dropping out, and even when it is as its best being a disappointment anyway, too much of a pain and end up going back to your bluetooth, or other ear phone system. I believe that after using this, any required wires hanging around your front seat won't seem all that bad. My take is pass this up...

This is where it all went downhill. Couldn't speak to a human so I had to speak my name address and info into a recording, no idea if they have it correct or not, they promise it will only take a few moments, but AFTER you give your credit card info, they start selling you subscriptions for some nonsense I didn't want, then fake sapphire earings etc etc, when you say "no", the machine doesn't take "no" for an answer and talks about your delayed hesitation and would you reconsider etc etc, as your card will only be charged $19.99 a month, agghhhh.

Leaving you wondering what is being charged to your credit card and what con is going on. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the local TV station for theft and harrasment if they charge me anything over $2.99 or sign me up for anything at all. Still haven't recieved my order, but I did call another number I found on the internet and a very friendly, understanding person assured me she'd take care of everything. At this point I trust no-one and will cancel my credit card if I have too and don't care if I never recieve the adapter or get to use jupiter jack.

It's a shame sales-people trying to take my money can ruin a good product.

I didn't even get out of my driveway before I unplugged this thing and put it back in the box. The clarity and reception is terrible, and anyone who knows how the FM receiver works will know that if you live anywhere that has a radio station close to 99.3, you will not be able to get this thing to work as it is advertised. A bluetooth it is not. There are better products out there, and as I should have known; you get what you pay for!

3.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware, November 5, 2009
I ordered this directly from their site. The fast talk starts as soon as they have your credit card number. The second unit is free but costs another $6.99 to ship, that was an obvious one. But the dashboard mount is $9.99 additional and there is no way to get just one! It will automatically send one for the Free unit as well. So the $20 product with a free 2nd unit quickly becomes a minmum $54 of hard selling. You will be barraged with additional unit offers with no S&H, then upgrade options, extended warranty and battery add ons that will kick up your purchase price based on the number of units ! Never once did I see a back up button. This item better do what it says it can. After all, during the order, they themselves pitched another model that is clearer and more powerful than the model in the original offer ! Use a credit card that stands behind you as well as mine for returns just in case. Good luck clicking through those answers.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY! Worst purchase I ever made!!!!!!!!!, December 29, 2009
This review is from: Jupiter Jack (Electronics)
Let me make it clear that I did not order the Jupiter Jack through Amazon and wish I had since Amazon's customer service is superb. Instead I ordered the Jupiter Jacks directly from the company and they have the worst product and customer service. I bought 4 Jupiter Jacks for Christmas gifts in October 2009. There is no written notice with the product or by e-mail informing me of any 30-day limit on money back returns. On Christmas Day each person who received this gift tried the Jupiter Jack and NONE OF THEM WORK! I called the company - Telebrand- and they now inform me that they will not return my money or replace the items and are not responsible to even inform the customer of the 30-day limitation for money back returns. My advice is to steer clear of this product. I lost $132.00 but you can save by heeding my advice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Run! Don't walk from this product!, December 8, 2009
This review is from: Jupiter Jack (Electronics)
I am very serious! I purchased a Jupiter Jack Jupiter Jack in mid October and immediately realized that I needed a dash Mount and batteries in order to use the product. This is where the nightmare began for me.

I went online and ordered the dash mount and batteries needed to help me drive and talk more safely. I ordered both items on October 30th, 2009. It is December 8th and after several calls and online visits (you can plug in your zip and last name and be told your order is shipped -- even though it really isn't) I am left frustrated and unable to cancel the order.

They told me today that my products shipped yesterday (contradicting the info given two weeks ago!)and that it was too late to cancel since it shipped.

Everyone was very sorry (to the point that I asked them to stop saying so).Right now I have no bateries, no mount, and a Jupiter Jack that does not function. It can not be returned either btw because the 30 days is now up since I bought it.

The company -Telebrands- does deserve credit for the training provided to their customer service reps. They can employ the broken record technique with the best of them. Basically " We are sorry but we got your money and you can't get it back!"

Finally, I was able to speak with someone who agreed to send me (free of charge)a dash mount from the NJ office which is closer and should arrive sooner. Still, I have no battery and will not be able to use the jupiter Jack in a safe way.

Run - don't walk away from this product! You've been warned!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Bad juju, December 17, 2009
This review is from: Jupiter Jack (Electronics)
I bought the Jupiter jack thinking it would be good. I plugged it into my phone and got nothing but static. I tried and tried and nothing would work. I realized my antenna is at the back of my car so I stepped out of my car and put it near the antenna and it works. Sad thing is I don't drive outside of my car near the antenna. I don't understand how the thing can transmit that far it makes it impractical. Just avoid this thing

1.0 out of 5 stars The Attorney General should look at this company, December 13, 2009

None of the adapters worked with my cell phone, so I went to the website to order the special adapter. Either the website is a fake, or something, because while it allowed me to find and select my phone model, it would not put the adapter in my shopping cart. It never said that it was out of stock, just left the cart empty. So I called the service phone number, and was referred to a special number for ordering adapters. That number was entirely automated. They asked for your cell phone information, and your credit card number, then spent the next 30 minutes selling additional products. I finally hung up, and never received the adapter I thought I had ordered. Thank goodness I never received any of the other products either. Altogether a horrible and time wasting experience. Luckily, I had bought it from a local store, who obligingly took it back.

1.0 out of 5 stars Needs a better transmitter, November 27, 2009
By
This review is from: Jupiter Jack (Electronics)
Bought the Jupiter Jack with High expectations. Packaging and idea is fantastic. Came with a coupon for new batteries and low price for cell phone holder. Reality was the FM transmitter was too weak. Tried it out on my fm reciever in the house and found the transmitter was effective at three feet. Any distance past three feet was full of static. Will be returning the unit and Hope the inventor can create a stronger transmitter. What a Shame.
