We need more games like this. The storyline is simple but cool, the voice acting is passable, the graphics are great, the controls are so cool using the gun controllers and the gameplay is well done. The dino's are very cool and the atmosphere is well done giving you a "what if I was lost in jurassic park" feeling, very creepy and on edge greatness. Love this game.

Honestly, I don't know why other people wrote bad reviews for this game. Sure, it looks like it could have originally been a "Jurassic Park" game, but with Michael Crichton dead, I'm sure they couldn't get the rights to make another video game, so they probably reworked the plot to come up with something new, which I thought was a decent, fun B- movie plot. There were parts where the game was difficult, but I don't think you are supposed to win any game just by buying it and shoving it into your Wii. The maps were creepy, making you feel like ou were on a real island with dinosaurs. The animals themselves looked really good, and the weapons were amazing. A must-have for any dinosaur enthusiast, and anyone who is a fan of first person shooters!
PS- I have no idea what the other reviewers were talking about with balancing on the logs... I honestly had not trouble crossing them, and I was using the "Perfect Shot" Wii Gun controller accessorie.

I bought this game for my 10 year old grandson. I'm the dino Grandma, having introduced him at the ripe age of 1 to the love of dinosaurs and every year I've been able to find the unusual "dino" gift to steal his heart. This game was no exception. I purchased a "gun" holder seperately and that helped a lot. He LOVES this game. And I was very impressed with the quality of the graphics and the fact that even though things get killed there isn't all the blood and guts so many of the games are like these days. Now, I'm purchasing another game for my house, so that when the kids come over, it will be here too.
My Grandson and his father are big gaming buffs. They have all the very sophistigated games like Halo and games geared toward older teens and adults. My grandson is very good at these games but I prefer that he have a fun game killing something other than people. To be told that this game was better than all the others he has played and know me means it says a lot for the game. What boy doesn't love dinosaurs and what adult male isn't the big game hunter at heart? I don't know what exactly some of the reviewers expected, I've had all the original Jurassic Park games for our Playstation and the computer and this game beats them all. And playing it on the Wii was icing on the cake. Kudos to the makers. Kudos to Amazon for having it available for purchase.

Although the Wii is often criticized by graphic freaks true games alike can appreciated this game. For one, it is interactive and feels like you right there actually fighting off Dinos. Two, the graphics while not as good on the Wii as the Xbox 360 and PS3 are still for lack of a better word Awesome. The controls are a little different at first but getting used to that should not be too difficult and once you over come that the fun can begin. I rate this game High due to the limited amount of better mature games on the Wii. If you own a Wii and like shooting Dinos then you won't be sorry to own this game. Oh, and parents be warned little kids might not be like vicious Dinos jumping at them and trying to bite their heads off.

Jurassic: The Fairly Average,

"Jurassic: The Hunted" is an average first-person shooter. Aside from the inclusion of dinosaurs, which is arguably its only redeeming value, you'll find everything else about it done better in other first-person shooters.
There is some fun to be had with shooting dinosaurs, although you'll mostly be shooting a couple of the same dinosaurs over and over. The real interesting specimens like the T-Rex and the pterodactyl are saved for boss battles, of which there is only a handful. You move through the game basically on predetermined paths. Occasionally the paths consists of a log that you'll have to balance your way across. The balancing is rather poorly implemented, but fairly easy to perform, with the exception of one log towards the end that requires way too much trial-and-error to complete. In addition to shooting dinos and crossing logs, the third game play requires you to defend a "fort" at various points in the game. To do so, you have to shoot at dinosaurs attempting to break into the fort through several windows that you repair by holding down the A button. The controls consist mainly of pointing-and-shooting. The jumping is fairly useless, the crouching is just about unnecessary, and the melee rarely connects with the shifting dinosaurs. Having finished the game, I would hesitate to recommend this game to anyone at full price. If you're really digging the idea of a FPS with dinosaurs, though, it's probably worth a rental or a used buy -- but definitely keep your expectations low.

A Barebones Version,

This game isn't that good. It's fun while it lasts, but that isn't long. And the biggest thing that I have a problem with is how little this game offers compared to the Xbox 360 version.
This game is short. I beat it in three hours and fifteen minutes. And then I was done completely. There are no other difficulty levels, no other objectives to get, no other bonuses to unlock. That's it, you're done when you beat it. Now I know the Wii isn't as capable as the Xbox or PS3, but that's no excuse for this barebones version. The graphics and the controls are the best part. The explosions look nice and the cut scenes look really good, too. The dinosaurs are also really well detailed and move like dinosaurs. But the Xbox 360 was given upgradeble weapons (which explains all the empty boxes you find in the game), an unlockable weapon, a hard difficulty mode (unlocked after beating the normal mode) and a really fun survivor mode that plays like Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: World at War. So why couldn't any of that fit on the Wii? It's not that much to ask for, is it? The game also doesn't come with any multiplayer, but the Xbox 360 didn't have that either. This game is a fun one to try out because I don't think there are any other dinosaur shooting games on the Wii (if there are, tell me), but I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get it for maybe $12 or less. If this is how the Wii version is, it only makes me wonder what the PS2 version is like.

I just bought a Wii and this is the first game I chose, it's challenging and fun, good story, not to short, not to long, lots of dinosaurs!, plus with the Wii, you aim with the controller, that adds to the realism of it, awesome graphics as well, not for younger children though, they might get a little scared, plus there is very mild language and blood, but all in all, this game is awesome!.

At first I thought, how cool, shooting dinosaurs! I love first person shooter games, and I though from the initial descriptions that this would be a good one. Well, it seems that the Wii version is a little different from the other versions. The only choice here is the story mode and here is where it loses my recommendation. I knew it wasn't going to be easy when the first time I 'found' a gun, I had to resort to punching a raptor to beat it..punching a raptor? I would have been dead right from the start. The problem is that it gets pretty easy to be killed in this game. It wouldn't be so bad if you could start from where you were killed, but no, usually there is a save point at the beginning of the scene, so there you go again, going through jungle, jumping over logs and rocks, shooting a dinosaur or two, and then coming up to the place where you were killed (either by a dinosaur or a fall) and how frustrating is it when by chance you get killed by the same dinosaur? I finally gave up on this game when I came to a log crossing and had to balance myself with the Wii remote to get across. Not so easy! Man, I fell to my death repeatedly, trying just about any technique I could think of, to no avail. What made it even worse is that I had to go back to the beginning of the scene (the save point) and travel through the jungle, killing a few dinosaurs (or sometimes getting killed by one of them) just to get to this log again...and then to fall to my death again. All I wanted to do was have fun shooting dinosaurs and this game, with few exceptions, was way more annoying than fun! Save your money, or if you really want to give it a try just wait a while and I'm sure you'll see it for sale for a lot less. What a waste of money, and what a disappointment.

Think of a first person shooter but instead of shooting terrorists or nazis, you're shooting DINOSAURS! This is like COD meets Jurassic Park! It's a lot of fun!
I'll hear my GF yelling and cussing in the other room and I *KNOW* it's because she's playing this game! It's quite challenging (at least to her) and despite her fits of rage she has a blast with it! I should note that she's a 29 year old scientist who has always been ENTHRALLED with dinosaurs! One of these days we'll genetically engineer a pygmy T-Rex to keep as a pet! Just don't let it eat your cats!

Like others we have seen complaining online, we found that this game didn't use the Wii controls well and that we would get stuck early on in the game without being able to progress at all. The game is linear and so getting stuck ends the whole adventure. Frustrating.
Get the House of the Dead games for Wii and be happy! Don't get this one, as you'll be sad. |
