Product Description

Jurassic Park is a cinematic adventure game that has you playing from the viewpoints of multiple characters trapped on Isla Nublar, the island theme park where the attractions are prehistoric beasts. While the game has an original storyline, the events run parallel to the timeline in Michael Crichton's book and Steven Spielberg's 1993 film. Players will find themselves trapped on the island after Dennis Nedry's ill-fated attempt to sell frozen dinosaur embryos to a rival corporation. The game is a departure from developer Telltale Games' previous point-and-click titles, adding more action-oriented sequences in the form of quick-time events. You'll also be able to converse with fellow characters at any time using an "on-demand" dialogue system, and switch between story points and locales using a picture-in-picture display. Solving puzzles is still a central focus of the gameplay, as characters explore the island while figuring out how best to survive against the deadly dinosaurs.

I'm sorry, but those that haven't played the game, or are just too big of fans of the movie that they are in denial about the game, should not be reviewing it. Lets not forget the original movie came out in 1993, so most of the original fans are in their mid twenties to mid thirties, not 10 or 12 yrs old - so of course we're going to expect a real epic adventure survival game that stays true to the nostalgia of the movie. Unfortunately the game insults your intelligence through most of the mindless-mouse clicks and timed arrow combos that just make you think you're playing the game but really you're skipping through short cut-scenes and watching a bad-tv-movie-cartoon version of Jurassic Park. The writing and dialogue is awful, not to mention most of the voice acting. And the game character models have very limited expressions and random eye movements that don't make any real sense, most of it just looks like really lazy animation. Its cool to be back on Isla Nublar and yes the idea of these other characters fighting for survival on the island along a mostly-parallel time period with the original movie is a good premise for a game, but they failed horribly in their delivery.

Some examples of the laziness of the game: "Harding, the loving, but obviously not very smart for a dinosaur veterinarian, father, lowers a crane (that you "control" with a single mouse-click) so his daughter can rip a door off a power box in order to restore power to a conveniently...or inconveniently... placed silly roller coaster (in a zoo? - this is jurassic park, not six flags), anyway when you then switch controls to Jess, his daughter, then attempts to secure the hook to the door, he yells out something like 'hey what do you think you're doing with that thing...thats dangerous!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, BEST GAME EVER August 12, 2014
This game is awesome! A Must Have. I felt it was better played on the P.C. as this can improve the graphics, and one can play with the Keyboard/Mouse or the X-Input on the F310 Gamepad. Playing with the X-Input, is a little trickier, but more true to the nature of the game. (If you need to know, one must first set the BIOS with the X Setting to load, Before launching the Game, otherwise it will not work properly.)
In the Game, one is on the original Jurassic Park Island. They are in search of the Barbasol Can, and other remaining crew at the island.

3.0 out of 5 stars A truly missed opportunity April 26, 2014
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Jurassic Park: The Game. Only half of that title is true. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

JP:TG is set in the universe of the film of the same name (it doesn't follow the events of the book). If you haven't seen the first Jurassic Park film, stop reading. There's no reason for you to play this game, because it's a direct sequel to it, and you'll only get confused. Plus, it's imperative to be a fan of the film to appreciate it at least a little bit. Only the first film is necessary, though. There are a couple of references to the other ones here and there, but since the events of the game are set one day after the story of the first movie, that's the only one required viewing.

The story's first few scenes actually occur during the movie, but then the main characters get some sleep and the rest of the game is set in the next day. Chief veterinarian from Jurassic Park, Gerry Harding, who was a supportive character in the film has been promoted to the role of protagonist. He is joined by his daughter, Jess, who's visiting the Park to spend some time with him. At night, when going back to the Visitor Center, unbeknownst to them the events of the film develop, and the dinosaurs roam free. They almost run over an unknown woman with their jeep, and when they get her unconscious body into the car, they realize she's been bitten by something, and is having hallucinations. At this point, though, the player already knows she's there to bring back Dennis Nedry's barbasol can, which of course contains stolen dinosaur embryos intended for a competitor. This woman, though, named Nima, has some personal issues to deal with. Things seem to improve when a team of mercenaries hired by InGen is sent to rescue them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough options November 25, 2013

The Jurassic Park movie and book series is my favorite! I was slightly disappointed by this game, modeled after my previously stated favorite movie/book series. There is pretty much no action at all in the game that cannot be accomplished with a click of the mouse. I guess I just want the game to have more options available to it, like if you could move around freely and not just click at the right points in the game. The game is just a reaction game. You can download many games of this type for free pretty much on any game site.
