Do Good Graphics Make Up For An Easy Game?,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
DNA Factor is a game that is fun while it lasts. It has 10 species of dinosaur and 12 levels, but many of the levels return you to previous locations. The game has nothing to do with the movie, but it is fun anyway. In each level, you move along, avoiding dinosaurs, picking up weapons, and collecting DNA particles that are needed in the game. At the end of each level, you must pick up a final DNA cartridge. If you do not collect enough DNA, you have to redo the level. If you do, you move on to the mini-game at the end of the level, where you shoot the DNA particles you collected at a DNA strand, filling in spaces. To make it harder, as the game moves on, the DNA strand moves faster, and you have to dodge parasites. The DNA strand also moves closer to you, and if you are hit by a parasite or touch the DNA strand, you have to restart the entire level. In the game, once you figure out certain things in a level, it becomes very easy to beat. I beat this game in a month after I got it. Hey, it's a great game while it lasts.

REAL TRUE JP FANS,
By Dana (East Coast, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
Only the real Jurassic Park fans will appreciate this game. It's a good game, but the Game-enthusiastic, little kids that sit on their couch all day will nit-pick it. If you realize... they have to put the first game on the market, whethter or not their is good depth perception in it. They are releasing the better games afterward, so there is more time to work on them. This game will be appreciated by the people who know Dilophosaurus was a lot bigger than the one in the movie, and that the only way that the t-rex didn't see Grant in the first movie was that it had amphibian DNA in it, which made it only able to spot movement. Now, if you knew that, you're a true fan, and read the books, too. These people will know the game's basis, and see that the plot is acually very-well-thoughout.

A Good Game,
By Patrick (Florida, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
This Jurassic Park game is not based on any of the movies, but I recommend it because of a good plotline. Though it's a little overpriced, I can say it's worth it. It's a mixture of the original Jurassic Park adventure games and a classic arcade game. The object is to escape dinosaurs while collecting DNA samples that have been scattered all over the island of Isla Sorna because of a plane crash. That's when the puzzle portion of the game comes in: at the end of each level, you have to use the DNA you collected to create DNA strands. Graphics feature realistic-looking people and dinosaurs, a nice change to the pudgy things in other Game Boy titles. I can vaguely compare this game to JURASSIC PARK: SURVIVAL, which was supposed to be released as a Playstation 2 title but never was. The game features 12 levels and 10 dinosaur species, and I have to warn you, they're not too generous with lives. You only get one.

If you are thinking about buying, don't.,
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
As with almost any video game, the best piece of advice I can give is to rent before you buy.I recently rented JPIII: The DNA Factor (from here on referred to as JP3TDF), and boy am I glad I didn't buy it. The gameplay is horrible, the graphics are only so-so, and the game apparently has nothing to do with the recent movie. JP3TDF is listed as an action/puzzle game. You start by choosing to play as either pilot Lori Torres or photographer Mark Hanson. Who you choose to play as makes no real difference, other than allowing you to identify with a character of your same gender. (Oh yeah, Lori has a move where she somersaults and Mark slides, but it is really the same.) Who are Mark and Lori? Who knows, apparently they were created for the game. Other than having something to do with dinosaurs, DNA, and taking place on Isla Sorna, I haven't seen any connection to the movie. Once you have selected your character, the game begins by telling you that a cargo plane carrying DNA has crashed and you were chosen to collect the DNA particles and the DNA canisters that contained them. The graphics shown in between levels and during the introductory story are excellent; unfortunately the graphics during gameplay are not. There is little shading, small dinosaurs are hard to see, and the lack of proportion makes it hard to tell whether a dinosaur is in the background or the foreground. (The graphics in the puzzle part of the game are actually pretty nice, but I'll get to that in a minute.) Bad graphics don't necessarily mean bad gameplay, but in this case the gameplay is far worse than the graphics. To begin with, the action part of the game is extremely difficult. Your character has a life meter that decreases when you are hit by dinosaurs. When your life meter runs out (which doesn't take long since you can't really defend yourself from the dinosaurs) it is Game Over. You must then restart the level from the beginning. Similarly, if you fall off a cliff because you don't make a jump, Game Over. Playing the levels repeatedly becomes very boring, very fast. Once a level is complete, (which sometimes means having to face a "boss" who kills you on contact) you enter the puzzle part of the game, which involves shooting the DNA particles back into their proper place in the canister. If you didn't collect enough particles, you are sent back to restart the level yet again. If you did collect enough, you shoot the colored particles into their matching colored holes. The puzzle is very simple, but actually quite fun. Also, the puzzle has good graphics and sound, at least compared to the rest of the game. Unfortunately, you don't get to play the puzzle very often. The bottom line on this game: if you are thinking about buying JP3TDF, make sure you rent it first. Chances are you will save yourself a lot of money. If you haven't thought about buying this game and you are only thinking about renting it, my advice is to make the most of your 3 or 4 bucks and rent something else.

Dark- Impossible to see,
By A Customer
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
Well, I wish that I could write something positive about this game but I can't.The colors are so dark and the screen so busy that it is IMPOSSIBLE to play the game. Given the problems with the GBA screen brightness, one would think that Konami would design the game with that in mind. Well, they didn't. Neither my 6 or 8 year old can see the screen, and neither can I (albeit I'm slightly older..) Buy a game that you can see. Not this one.

This game is horrible!,

This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
Need I say anything more than the title? I bought the game thinking it would actually have something to do with JPIII other than dinos and the name. This has absolutly NOTHING to do with the movie. I would rate this a zero but that isn't an option. This game is so stupid and pointless (and easy) it's not worth your time. If you want to play it, RENT IT! I strongly recomend passing on this sorry excuse for a game. The graphics aren't even that great really. To sum things up, don't buy this! You will regret it.

First of 3,

This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
This game is the first of 3 Jurassic Park III games that will be coming out for game boy advance. It features 2 different gameplay modes for one player. While traveling the lush areas of Isla Sorna, you must find DNA capsules in order to fuel the next portion of the game. When you find them, you will enter a puzzle/shooter game where you must find DNA particles and make them into a string to unlock more dinosaurs. This game has more than 12 levels of dinosaur fun. There are 10 species of dinos in this side scrolling adventure, creating endless fighting possiblilities. These include Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Pterodactyls, Velociraptors, and more. There will also be secrets in this game that can be found and can do some cool things. Overall, this game should not be a huge hit, and does not deserve 5 stars. Therefore, here are 4.

this wasn't the best,

I rented this game(thank god I didn't buy it)it sucked! The game is so boring, you go through a stupid level, which youcan't see a thing. You're guy(or girl)are like transparent or something. any the game play but me to sleep. Then you barley ever have a gun making you helpless 95% of the time. If you manage to live through the boredum, you must put together a DNA stran. I was stupid. I played it for maybe 10 minutes and then quit. I was disapointed for a Jurassic Park game. Get Castlevania in stead if your looking fora rpg or action game. I hope this review saves you from buying this game!!!!slash

It just sucks,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jurassic Park III: The DNA Factor (Video Game)
Out of the three Jurrasic Park 3 games, this has to be the worst. It has something to do with dinosaurs and DNA, but the concept of the game just doesn't make sense to me. And because of the animation and simple platforming, I wouldn't be suprised if this game came out on GBC.
