Product Description

Developed by Telltale Games, the creators of the hit Back to the Future: The Game, Jurassic Park: The Game is a cinematic adventure 65 million years in the making that delivers an authentic, exciting and sometimes scary Jurassic Park experience. Rooted in an original story that expands on the events of the first Jurassic Park movie, the game plays out through the eyes of key characters and progresses through fast-paced action, exploration and puzzle-solving. In-Gen staff marooned on the island, infiltrators sent to steal the Park’s secrets and mercenaries sent to rescue survivors collide, revealing that dinosaurs are not the only thing to worry about in John Hammond’s failed theme park and reserve. In addition to revisiting scenes and creatures seen in the movie, including the mighty T-Rex, cunning Raptors and the scene of Dennis Nedry’s death, players will explore new areas of the park only hinted at in the movie and encounter new prehistoric creatures, freed by Nedry’s greed. Return to Isla Nublar once more in Jurassic Park: The Game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Re-living memories in a good but budget game November 19, 2011
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This game is by no stretch of the word great. It's clear it was made on a budget as the graphics and animations will point out. However, it's heart is in the right place. If you ever loved Jurassic Park as a kid and want to experience a taste of that magic this is a good buy. I went into this game knowing it was budget and an adventure game to boot and while I find the extensive use of quick time events to be a bit excessive the action scenes and story make up for it. Not to mention you get to explore new parts of the park never before seen in the movies. This game is more like an interactive movie with moments of the point and click adventure games of old. Jurassic Park is not a game for everyone and those unfamiliar with the a fore mentioned adventure games of the 1990's will probably not get into it finding it to archaic in game play terms to be satisfied. People familiar with more modern approaches to this genre such as heavy rain will be in their element as it shares the same genre with out the quality of time and a budget to make it truly great. Here's a quick list for easy dissection of this review.

- Great story and voice acting
- A retro style game for re-living those childhood memories
- Explore new parts of the park like the marine life facility
- Dinosaur animations and sound effects are great
- The investigative sections where you explore the environment are a lot of fun

- Dialogue can be stereotypical at times
- Animation (Specifically the human characters) and Graphics in general are below today's standards by far
- A lot of quick time events

Overall I give it prop's for simply being done well with what budget they had and it's clear by their efforts that they loved the source material and did their best to make an adventure worthy of the fan's love. Take it for what it is and what could of never been instead of what it isn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tell Tale Games February 16, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Did you ever read those Goosebumps Books that let you make choices? Well this is the same thing only it's a video game. This game makes you feel in control of the situation. Needless to say that when an action scene comes up, your body fills with adrenaline as you prepare to make your moves and choices. If you played The Walking Dead and like it, you will love this game as well. Then again I always liked zombies and dinosaurs.
The only reason people don't like this game is because they were expecting to be able to move around freely on the island and go anywhere. Graphics are fine and should not even be a reason for writing a 1-3 Star Review.

3.0 out of 5 stars so.... December 28, 2011
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I wasnt sure about getting this game or not but I then watched the first Jurassic Park movie and then I got all excited to buy this game and so I did. I regret that decision. Lets keep this simple, this game is basically one giant interactive cut-scene, that is it, nothing more. The graphics are alright, there isnt any controls except for pressing some random buttons when the screen tells you to press them and that is it, just a button match. I thought my character would be actually be able to freely move like 99% of adventure games but that didn't happen. If your hanging on a decision to buy this or not just watch the game online on youtube, either that or wait till this game goes to $5 in the bargin bin.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for serious Jurassic Park fans. March 16, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First of all, if you buy this expecting a game, you will be dissapointed. To truly appreciate what Telltale games has done, think of it as an interactive movie. Kind of a Jurassic Park 1 1/2. It was a great experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. This game really does give some answers that I have always wondered about from the first movie, such as the Lysine contingency and what exactly happened to the embryos. The game also allows you to explore some of the things that were to come later in the park, such as rides and a marine exhibit. A few points of the game are extremely awesome, don't want to give away too much, but let's just say that there is a knife fight with a Velociraptor. The story itself was very captivating as a huge fan of the franchise. I was let down in the fact that the only characters from the original movie in the game were Dennis Nedry (already dead), and the main character of the game, Gerry Harding, was the vet in the sick Triceratops scene from the original Jurassic Park. The game is filled with little things like that which will be apparent to the dedicated fans. For anyone else however I can't in good conscience recommend this. The gameplay is rather boring and very buggy. Those were the only things I can really think of negative, definitely not a dealbreaker for fans, but if you don't like Jurassic Park this isn't for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Story was great, the game not so much May 30, 2013

It's unfortunate that TTG didn't get this one right because it's probably the best Jurassic Park sequel there is. The story was somewhat tied to the movie and the characters were actually pretty great.

Memorizing button presses was not as fun, and I had to replay a few sequences in order to get through.

4.0 out of 5 stars "I have a plan...give me your gun!" November 4, 2014
This is an adventure game. As such, it is almost guaranteed to be misunderstood. Because...well, consoles don't really have many adventure games. While on the PC they've been around forever, on consoles people largely seem to fail to understand the general concept. "What? I can't move anywhere I want? I have to click on EVERYTHING on the screen? I have to hit buttons at exactly the right time not to die?" Yes, ye of little adventure-gaming experience. That's what adventure games DO! Eh-hem. Moving right along...

You might not guess it by my comments above, but in actuality I haven't actually beaten many adventure games. I think I was just a bit too young during the adventure game golden age closing in the 90's, so I missed the last of the classics (Monkey Island, Blade Runner, etc). I gave them a go later in life, but I largely find them tedious and confusing due to the frustrating hours of try this items with that item on that object just to get a tiny bit further. Well, if like me you don't relish time spent on clicking endlessly just trying to open a door, this game is undoubtedly a brilliant step forward.

I've wanted to play Quadratic Dream's Adventure games for some time now, but have never done so. While Heavy Rain and Beyond:Two Souls look awesome, they also look quite dark, depressing, violent, etc. Thankfully, while not apparently as superbly executed, the basic IDEA of those adventure games is here applied to a thankfully cartoon, cheesy, thrilling adventure full of heart by Telltale Games. You will press buttons not to trip, to change conversation options, etc. And you will spin the analog sticks to turn keys and stab at buttons not to die on timed events. In a good way.
