5.0 out of 5 stars Just Like Abraham Lincoln
Mr. Potts not only looks like Abraham Lincoln but is a confirmed Lincolnphile who shares many other attributes of Mr. Lincoln's with his young neighbor who in turn shares Mr. Potts with his schoolmates for a special program on Lincoln's birthday. A clever story that presents pertinent facts about a beloved president to young children. As an school librarian I enjoy...

3.0 out of 5 stars Abe Lincoln: Star Center
Many dramas were written about Abraham Lincoln, some for children, high school students and others for adults. This one-actor show is of the highlights of some of Lincoln's speeches. It is an interactive play with six characters in various places out in the audience. At the Carousel Theater in the '60s, I had a similar experience as 'Hedda Gabler' was presented there...

4.0 out of 5 stars teacher favorite, February 13, 2009
By
I've used this children's book (by the great Bernard Weber) for the last 20 years teaching K-2nd grades. It's tells the story of Lincoln's life in a creative way, and the kids have always enjoyed it. It even has a surprise ending! The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars are the llustrations are a bit old fashioned. My copy is falling apart, and I'd love to find a replacement to last until retirement. :)
(The other "review" has nothing to do with this children's book.)

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great concept....., March 30, 2001
This review is from: Just Like Abraham Lincoln (Library Binding)
My friend and I read this book while waiting for our food two summers ago, at a Friendly's in Providence Rhode Island. The book gripped us, and to this day we still talk about the story that changed our lives. If we hadn't taken that vacation, and hadn't chosen to eat at Friendly's, today we would be different people. I Love this book and will devote the up comming summer to finding a copy of it. Perhapes I will retrace my steps to Providence and reread the book that now is just a memory. I don't know if the book is still there or if that Friendly's is even still open, but my summer memories will live on as long as I remember the plot of this revolutionary book. Steve, you know it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Abe Lincoln: Star Center, February 10, 2007
Many dramas were written about Abraham Lincoln, some for children, high school students and others for adults. This one-actor show is of the highlights of some of Lincoln's speeches. It is an interactive play with six characters in various places out in the audience. At the Carousel Theater in the '60s, I had a similar experience as 'Hedda Gabler' was presented there with the audience all around the stage. At the Blackbos Theater, the action took place in the center with audience close by on both sides when Terry Webber wooed the adults with is acting in the one-man production of 'Killing Lincoln.' He amused his students when he assumed the actor Booth's part. He played Lincoln as more dignified and upright, and slouched somewhat as Booth. Anyone not up on the facts may not have noticed when he changed characters as he did it so effortlessly.

February 12 is the birthdate of our 16th president. He was killed on April 14, 1965. Two of us from Knoxville appeared on Soundprint for public radio. It won't be aired on the local WUOT even though two interviews, mine and a man from this town also, were interviewed the the local studios. It is something special to try to hear as Eric and Jean have worked hard getting interviews all over the place and it will soon be available on CD. He had a short tenure in the Presidental spot and a difficult time to try to hold this country together. It was fate which brought him to that spot in his life. We remember him fondly.
