More About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Isaac Hooke holds a degree in engineering physics, though his more unusual inventions remain fictive at this time. He is an avid hiker, cyclist, and photographer who resides in Edmonton, Alberta.

His experimental genre-bending action novel THE FOREVER GATE was an Amazon #1 bestseller in both the science fiction and fantasy categories when it was released in May 2013, and was recognized as Indie Book of the Day. His military science fiction novel, ATLAS, became a similar bestseller one year later, attracting the attention of 47North. ATLAS 2 and 3 followed. His latest novel, CLANDESTINE, a thriller set in the Middle East, came out March 30, 2015.

Although short, this is a fun read that fans of sci-fi action should enjoy. This is a military sci-fi story so expect some really cool weapons (mechs fighting larger mechs!) plus an abundance of acronyms (MOTH, LPO, DA, SK, ATLAS, LIDAR, HS3, HUD, HPT, HQ, UC.) The author has a good imagination and despite the fact that many elements of the story have been done before he really manages to make the story his own. The story has good action and even a bit of humor thrown in.

The author has a full length novel set in this same universe coming out next month. Based on this short story I will probably check it out. Either way, this short story does stand on its own and has a pretty good ending. I dislike when author release short stories that are actually just the opening chapters of their books. This is not the case here, and this story can be enjoyed on its own.

Story is well edited with no typos found.

Recommended for fans of military- or action-based science fiction and/or mechanical exo-skeletons.

‘Just Another Day’ is a thoroughly enjoyable and fast-paced read! I found myself quickly immersed in the story world, and I felt like I was right there in the thick of it with Face Hopper and the gang. I am a huge fan of Military Science Fiction. I tore right through ‘Just Another Day’ and author Isaac Hooke left me wanting more! I am very anxious for ATLAS to come out, so I can get a bigger picture of all of the characters, their stories, the technology, and the tactics that make up the perilous world of ATLAS. I look forward to MUCH MORE action and adventure from Isaac Hooke, and the intrepid heroes of MOTH Team 7!

Military sci fi action short story, and while there's nothing particularly new here, it's all pretty well done. The author dons his universe and extends it to the details of his characters' lives, including character voice, which earns the story an additional star. (All too many Kindle authors skimp on character voice, and all too many Kindle books sound the same. Interesting parallel, that.) Four stars and I'm willing to give the author's full-length novel a read when it arrives.

Fast paced and action packed story about futuristic militarized astronaut strike teams operating in deep space and giant mechs. This short story promises to lead into a larger series, which I for one look forward to reading.

Elite military team. Action packed short about taking down a target. A MOTH team in a typical hurry up and wait op, revise their plan of action due to a bit of muffed intel.

I am so looking forward to the novel about this team of elite commandos and their ops.

I am a sci-fi nerd, and the description of this short story really interested me, so I got it for my Kindle. Its short and easy to read, and its part of a bigger universe and novel, ATLAS, which was released in December 2013. This was my first time reading material by Isaac Hooke, and I fully intend to purchase ATLAS because this one was so good. There was plenty of action and some humor that made this a very enjoyable, fast read.

The Action and characterization was delightfully clever. Having worked for the military where acronyms are mil speak, it was nice that the first time a word was used, it was defined so wonderfully that I knew what the word meant afterward (I read so many books where the author does not even try to define the word much less take the time to tell what it meant.) I did have a small problem with the decompression problem, I overlooked that in the first description of the suits - would have realized it is the suit had been unlocked outside but it was unlocked inside so...
Anyway, I signed up to receive notice of upcoming books and I look forward to reading a longer section.
