True talent still reigns, September 13, 2008
This review is from: Just Another Fool (Audio CD)
True talent still reigns. If you are looking for gritty, strong vocals, and great musicianship, you will enjoy this album. One cannot help but be affected by Ms. Suter's unique vocals. The whole album has authenticity that is sorely lacking in much of what is out there. This is pure blues and soul. As I listen to the raw emotion infused into each track, I feel as though I am sitting in a small venue at a live performance. It is clear that Alexis and her band and backup singers truly love what they are doing. A must for anyone into Blues, Soul and a little gritty rock.
Great!

Quite Simply: DYNAMITE!!!!, August 5, 2008
This review is from: Just Another Fool (Audio CD)
Those fortunate enough to have attended one of the legendary Levon Helm's Midnight Rambles, or who perhaps heard them on the Imus show, are in on a little secret that's now ready for much wider public consumption: The Alexis P. Suter Band.
Centered around the powerhouse presence and vocals of Suter, this solidly musical tour de force treads the sacred secular grounds of gospel tinged blues and r&b with strong authority. I believe that Alexis was previously known for some "house" recordings, but this CD will put you more in mind of the heydays of both Big Mama Thornton and her talented disciple Bonnie Bramlett.Once you've experienced her, your ears simply won't look away from the sound of Alexis.
"Climbin' Up Ther Mountain" announces the disc in championship fashion, and the band holds the type of strong steady reins that blow away crowds at the best blues festivals and great musical events like Bonaroo. Ray Grappone's well schooled knock out drumming,Vicki Bell's,Linda Pino's and Glen Turner's passionate background vocals and the surgically perfect guitar/bass team of Jimmy and Peter Bennett are going to floor you!! Excepting two tracks (one an intriguing reworking of Gerry Goffin's "Imagination") the songs are originals, and "Another Fool"
can stand proudly with many of the best Stax flavored anthems we still hear and revere on classic soul radio.
Based on this disc, the future looks very bright indeed for the Alexis P. Suter band; it's easily one of my favorite Amazon purchases in quite awhile!
