It took me 18 years to find these songs again and it was worth the wait. Even though I forgot the artist name Bertie Higgins. I never forgot two songs on this cassette "Just another day in Paradise" and "Key Largo". My kids have grown up with these words on my lips. And their question was what are you talking about and I would say they are the words to some old songs that I heard a long time ago, that are magic to me, in this hectic world we now live in. Now finally I will be able to share my love of these songs with my children. These songs have lifted my spirit and soul when nothing else could. Thanks Bertie.

I remember the first time I heard Bertie, I was a lot younger than many of his fans. However the island music touched me. I am now married and I used it at my wedding. It's good to know there is still a place for Bertie...even on the net.

My honey and I will take time off for work and with both very busy lives and go visit Key Largo!!!! Very good music. Full of love.

Always loved this album, emailed Bertie,as my old tape wore out - he told me I could find it here - and I'll be happy again. Nothing like a bit of Keys Music.

Absolutely the best! Living in South Florida, Bertie sums up life down here. Recently saw him perform live and if you ever get a chance, jump at it! A really fun show ... he is so talented.

I was 10 years old when I first heard this album. My parents would always play it up at the lake. I still love the songs, so I bought myself a copy and my parents.

Bertie Higgins possesses a unique talent of blending his melodies and enter-twining them into some singular lyrics. When one listens to Casablanca, a beautiful love story is opened and one cannot help but reflect on the movie by the same name that starred the enigmatic Bogie. Bertie successfully repeats his arresting talents over and over throughout his album. Hats off to a great performer! Well-worth the listening!

I purchased the CDs mainly for the song "Key Largo", although I like all the songs. My wife under the name Susy Smith was the lead backup vocalist on this cut. It was a secret I kept for her until she died. I ordered copies for our children, her mother and sister so that they could hear her voice whenever they wanted. I used to travel and hearing Key Largo would take me back home to her for just a few minutes. It still does.

This is a marvellous album from the early 1980s which briefly made Bertie Higgins an overnight star - rightly, too, as this is a great collection of beautifully-performed classics with a pirate/Carribbean/Bogart twist running throughout. Composition, vocals, musicianship and production are all on the top line.

Whilst the hits - such as 'Key Largo' - are understandably the best known tracks on the album, there is some great stuff amongst the lesser-known songs - a particular stand-out here is the long finale, 'The Tropics', a really gutsy rock song which is straight AOR. A brilliant album.

A couple of other thoughts. First, anyone considering buying this excellent album might instead consider 'Golden Classics' - essentially, it's this album plus two very good additional tracks ('Tokyo Joe' and 'Beneath the Island Light'). These are taken from the follow-up album 'Pirates & Poets', another good album but one which was necessarily overshadowed by Higgins' almost impossible-to-follow debut.

A second point is that, contrary to what I've read elsewhere, I now understand that 'Pirates & Poets' IS currently available on CD, albeit very hard to track down

I bought this solely for Key Largo. It was on there. It sounds like I remember it sounds. I listen to it often. It was shipped quickly and it works.
