This is a great little book for anyone starting their own business for the first time. It has all the basics without overwhelming you with too much detail. Too may folks start a business and just wing it when it comes to bookkeeping and record keeping. And that is a great way to fail. If you don't know what your costs are and where you are spending your money you can get in trouble really fast.
Denise's book will help you set up your accounts and get you started correctly. And when you are ready to make the switch to Quickbooks, you will have everything organized so it will be painless.

I highly recommend this book for any small to medium business. It would actually work even for a large business, but then large businesses usually have their own bookkeepers. Even if the bookkeeping function is outsourced a business should really know what the bookkeeping is about, and this book explains it perfectly and is easy to understand, well-written. A lot of business owners know their work very well but do not understand the business end of it all. This book is for them. It really helped me!
