Just Being Audrey proves to be one of those relatively rare cases where the author and illustrator are completely in synch regarding the theme and tone of the book. Author Margaret Cardillo writes like she has always known Audrey Hepburn by heart and after extensive research by the author and illustrator, Julia Denos, the two artists bring her best qualities to life for a new generation of readers.

To be kind above all, a message Hepburn's mother, a baroness, instilled in Audrey, is timely in our age of a disturbing increase in bullying as a result of ignorance of differences and issues of diversity. It is a welcome theme throughout the book and one that children respond very well to. Audrey always felt different, but with her mother's significant encouragement we learn how she turns her unique qualities into strength of character. It is her strength of spirit that forges an unforgettable film career as well as a life that is dedicated to her own cherished children and, later in life, to children around the globe through UNICEF.

Just Being Audrey is a beautifully written and illustrated children's book and a special gift to older generations who have grown up loving Audrey Hepburn.

I preordered this book and received this delightful book yesterday, 1/27/11. I took it to show my students that I tutor the same day. We read the book together. One of my students wants to be a dancer, another an actress and the others were introduced to this time period for the first time. All were impressed with her "courage", while the two aforementioned wanted their own copy. I hope to place one of the copies I purchased in the school library. I will be looking forward to more books done by this author and illustrator-especially biographies that demonstrate the 'choice of hope over sorrow'. (PFM)

A beautiful book about a BEAUTIFUL person. The words and illustrations are as timeless as our Audrey. I am ordering another set of copies for Mother's Day and Easter presents. THANK YOU Margaret Cardillo and Julio Denos for your sincere and amazing work. There's hope for the young girls out there!

This is a great book for introducing Audrey Hepburn to a younger generation. I bought this book partly for myself and partly because I just found out that I'm pregnant with a little girl! So I can't wait to read it read it to my little girl, who I am naming Audrey! Its all about being yourself, even if you are different, in a world where people all try to be the same. I think that is a positive message for children, especially girls, today!

I purchased this book for my niece, who also happens to be named Audrey. She is 11 years old, and I am not sure what to expect when I give this to her as a Christmas present, because it is large like a children's book. It is a beautiful book, a lovely story and fantastic illustrations- but I worry that she will not like it. I read the description, but I guess that I didn't comprehend because I was just so excited about the subject and the name. I am still going to give this to her, I just might have to find something else to give to her as well in case she feels as though she is too old for this book.

This is a charming children's biography of actress and human rights activist Audrey Hepburn. In 32 pages kids can learn about the life of Audrey Hepburn. It covers her childhood, motherhood, career and life work with UNIFECF. Audrey had many great characteristics that kids today should strive for including hard work; kindness; helping others; and self-acceptance. This book would be helpful in report writing as well.

I love this book because it seems to excel in so many things: lovely writing, yes! Lovely illustrations that perfectly fit the story, definitely! Great story told in a beautiful way, yup and yup!

I had no idea the delightful Audrey Hepburn had such a trying childhood. But what makes the story even more amazing and wonderful, is how she overcame it all with a positive attitude and a kind heart. I love how she kept her own giving personality and determination, and was still totally loved and respected in Hollywood (and, well, the world I guess!)

Definitely pick this book up - even if you're not into Hepburn herself, it's still a wonderful story about overcoming the odds and about a good heart winning the day!

Any Audrey fan, ever, will adore this book. The illustrations perfectly capture her inner sparkle and the text focuses on the kindness of her heart and actions, which is what made her truly remarkable and beautiful.

This is such a beautiful book, not only the story but the illustrations are lovely. A great gift for someone with style.

Such a great read of Audrey Hepburn and easily enjoyable for my niece. I am such a fan of Audrey Hepburn I purchased another one for myself as a collectible item.

Both the author and illustrator did a fantastic job on this book.
