More About the Author
She is the author of Just Blow it Up - Firepower for Living an Unlimited Life and a companion book, Doses of Dynamite - Firepower for Capturing the Inspiration in Everyday Things. She is also a contributing author, along with Dr. Christian Guenette, Gillian Laura Roberts, Dr. Bernie Seigal, and others, to The Thought That Changed My Life Forever.
Her success stories have been featured in books such as Go-Givers Sell More, by Bob Burg and John David Mann, and The Referral Engine, by John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing.
In her words, she has been a coach, business consultant and analyst, a change agent, and a general trouble-shooter to entrepreneurs and business leaders for more years than she is willing to admit. (But she'll probably tell you if you ask nice.)
Dixie considers herself more of a "story teller" than a speaker, but she's shared the stage with the likes of Zig Zigler, Bob Burg, John David Mann, Scott Ginsberg, Mark Sanborn, and Southwest Airlines President Emerita, Coleen Barrett.
She's allergic to the word "CAN'T" and her Blast Thru Coaching(TM) method is a process for challenging, even eliminating, that word from your vocabulary.
Dixie was raised in Southeast Kansas as an only child, her two siblings were nearly grown when she was born. Her parents were members of a fundamental church with strict guidelines for behavior and dress, and no tolerance for radio, TV or other cultural influences of the time. So Dixie heard "can't" a lot. But she was allowed free rein of the library and the rural two-room schoolhouse. She learned to recognize words before she was five, and spent her childhood devouring stories. That love of story, and the ability to find the lessons and gifts in every tale, comes out in her own style of storytelling.
Dixie still lives in the Midwest, still devours books, and still loves to share the lessons and gifts she finds in everyday occurrences and the stories that play out within us and around us if we only learn to pay attention.

Dixie inspires the reader to see and recognize the possibilities and opportunities around them that will help them move their dreams from fantasies to realities. The same principles apply whether your dreams are grandiose, your projects are major, or you are dealing with small routine speed bump size obstacles. I found her explanation of the process of vision, passion, and belief to be enlightening. She also helped me understand the importance of confidence, validation, and impetus.
Illustrations are drawn from Dixie's own experiences and from shared analogies and examples from her Blast Thru Coaching sessions. Her writing is focused and articulate. She is highly respected among her peers as a gifted communicator.
The book is divided into four parts, in a logical sequence, equipping the reader with a "dynamite toolbox" to set off the four blasting caps to blow up the walls that have kept you from accomplishing your life dreams and purpose. Highly motivational - Highly recommended.
A copy of this book was provided for review purposes. The opinions expressed are my own.
But after finishing the book, I realized I've just begun. I don't plan to bury this book on the shelf. I plan to crack it open...often.
Dixie is so full of wisdom and so gifted in how she shares it. She writes with authority, humor, and empathy. As I read this book, I felt Dixie push me, joke with me, and (best of all) understand me. She gets it. She gets me. She gets you. This is not one of those "get-over-it," "just do it," dime-a-dozen self-help books loaded with cliches and hollow admonitions. This is more like an encouraging, yet challenging, letter from an old friend who helps you recognize your fears and identify the walls you have erected between your dreams and their realization. Dixie ends the "letter" by giving you a clear, manageable blueprint to blow up those walls.
For her email subscribers, Dixie delivers a "Daily Dose of Dynamite." Each page of this book, each story she shares is like an extra dose of dynamite. So after reading the book in a few hours, I now plan to read it again -- one dose at a time -- over a few months. It's the right medicine to help me blow up those walls!
I love the conversational tone of the book; I believe my students would enjoy reading it, and with Dixie's permission, I'm going to be using parts of it to supplement my classroom instruction!!!
Great job, Ms. Dynamite!!!
What did all that JUST mean? That means that at anytime you are susceptible to a wide range of dream-killers and naysayers. Worse, you could be surrounded by a crowd of half-aware friendly goober heads hell bent on giving you unprocessed gobbledygook that they heard down the road on the Internet. Bottom line, there is a lot of rubbish out there that is simply not helpful.
As soon as you enter the front cover of "Just Blow It Up" you are welcomed into the brilliant mind of Dixie Gillaspie as she guides you through:
1. key elements of her journey on becoming a "Blast Thru Artist"
2. lessons learned from the stories of other radically successful "Blast Thru Artists"
3. the wellspring of knowledge that will empower you to embody your highest aspiration
4. VERY practical tools and tips that will allow you to deconstruct and BLAST THRU the WALLS that crop up between where you are now and where you want to go.
This book is bursting at the seams with a truly rich density of REAL ACTION STEPS that you can customize and follow as a blueprint past the "impossible" that has nestled its way on your path.
Buy 2 copies. One to immediately cram full of post-it notes marking all the "A-Ha!" moments and next-step reminders. Another to keep pristine on your shelf as a daily reminder to always say I CAN TOO, JUST WATCH ME!
