About the Author

Dixie Gillaspie has been called a muse, an alchemist, and a blast through artist, but most people who know her just call her "Dynamite." In her words, she has been a coach, business consultant and analyst, a change agent, and a general trouble-shooter to entrepreneurs and business leaders for more years than she is willing to admit. In that time, she has developed a reputation for always bringing energy, information, insight and enthusiasm to every situation.

More About the Author

Dixie Gillaspie has been called a muse, a firestarter, and a blast through artist, but most people who know her just call her "Dynamite," a nickname she acquired in the second grade.

She is the author of Just Blow it Up - Firepower for Living an Unlimited Life and a companion book, Doses of Dynamite - Firepower for Capturing the Inspiration in Everyday Things. She is also a contributing author, along with Dr. Christian Guenette, Gillian Laura Roberts, Dr. Bernie Seigal, and others, to The Thought That Changed My Life Forever.

Her success stories have been featured in books such as Go-Givers Sell More, by Bob Burg and John David Mann, and The Referral Engine, by John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing.

In her words, she has been a coach, business consultant and analyst, a change agent, and a general trouble-shooter to entrepreneurs and business leaders for more years than she is willing to admit. (But she'll probably tell you if you ask nice.)

Dixie considers herself more of a "story teller" than a speaker, but she's shared the stage with the likes of Zig Zigler, Bob Burg, John David Mann, Scott Ginsberg, Mark Sanborn, and Southwest Airlines President Emerita, Coleen Barrett.

She's allergic to the word "CAN'T" and her Blast Thru Coaching(TM) method is a process for challenging, even eliminating, that word from your vocabulary.

Dixie was raised in Southeast Kansas as an only child, her two siblings were nearly grown when she was born. Her parents were members of a fundamental church with strict guidelines for behavior and dress, and no tolerance for radio, TV or other cultural influences of the time. So Dixie heard "can't" a lot. But she was allowed free rein of the library and the rural two-room schoolhouse. She learned to recognize words before she was five, and spent her childhood devouring stories. That love of story, and the ability to find the lessons and gifts in every tale, comes out in her own style of storytelling.

Dixie still lives in the Midwest, still devours books, and still loves to share the lessons and gifts she finds in everyday occurrences and the stories that play out within us and around us if we only learn to pay attention.

If you have any fear, any doubt, or any thing standing between you and your greatness - this is the book for you! Dixie really does blow it up. Never be afraid of fear. Be afraid if you don't have any fear, because odds are, you're living a life of mediocrity. This book is a wake up call to live big.

"Just Blow it Up" is contains over 200 power packed pages of practical personal principles for creating and enjoying personal success. I found an applicable "take away" on nearly every page. Dixie Gillaspie provides the tools, ammunition, and a plan of attack for facing the insurmountable brick walls that keep you from accomplishing your life dreams and purpose.

Dixie inspires the reader to see and recognize the possibilities and opportunities around them that will help them move their dreams from fantasies to realities. The same principles apply whether your dreams are grandiose, your projects are major, or you are dealing with small routine speed bump size obstacles. I found her explanation of the process of vision, passion, and belief to be enlightening. She also helped me understand the importance of confidence, validation, and impetus.

Illustrations are drawn from Dixie's own experiences and from shared analogies and examples from her Blast Thru Coaching sessions. Her writing is focused and articulate. She is highly respected among her peers as a gifted communicator.

The book is divided into four parts, in a logical sequence, equipping the reader with a "dynamite toolbox" to set off the four blasting caps to blow up the walls that have kept you from accomplishing your life dreams and purpose. Highly motivational - Highly recommended.

I am an instructor at a four-year college, where I teach a student success course designed for students who are "not quite ready" to be in college, meaning that they did not score high enough on the ACT to go into college-level courses. Dixie's book simply resonates with the types of messages these students need to hear. Most of them have spent a lifetime NOT being successful and are full of limiting beliefs and the self-talk and behaviors of people who have learned to be Victims (just like the adult elephant described in Chapter 21!).

I love the conversational tone of the book; I believe my students would enjoy reading it, and with Dixie's permission, I'm going to be using parts of it to supplement my classroom instruction!!!

Great job, Ms. Dynamite!!!

The book's most powerful takeaway for me was the section on blasting caps - the 4 questions you can ask yourself when faced with an obstacle. This very simple exercise will transform the way you think about problems and limitations (or perceived limitations). If you are a person who often says, "I can't do this" or focuses on the problems in your life instead of finding the solutions, you'll gain a great deal of insight from Dixie's very practical and actionable book.

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.

But after finishing the book, I realized I've just begun. I don't plan to bury this book on the shelf. I plan to crack it open...often.

Dixie is so full of wisdom and so gifted in how she shares it. She writes with authority, humor, and empathy. As I read this book, I felt Dixie push me, joke with me, and (best of all) understand me. She gets it. She gets me. She gets you. This is not one of those "get-over-it," "just do it," dime-a-dozen self-help books loaded with cliches and hollow admonitions. This is more like an encouraging, yet challenging, letter from an old friend who helps you recognize your fears and identify the walls you have erected between your dreams and their realization. Dixie ends the "letter" by giving you a clear, manageable blueprint to blow up those walls.

For her email subscribers, Dixie delivers a "Daily Dose of Dynamite." Each page of this book, each story she shares is like an extra dose of dynamite. So after reading the book in a few hours, I now plan to read it again -- one dose at a time -- over a few months. It's the right medicine to help me blow up those walls!

In the spirit of full disclosure I am a friend, former client, colleague and very modest contributor to this book. That being said, I can honestly say that this is a book you really should read...and re-read. Brick walls, roadblocks, challenges, yeah but's - call them what you will but we all have them. What Dixie provides is a proven approach to identify, assess and then eliminate those hindrances. What's the payoff? Simple, prepare to realize the incredible benefits and blessings that result.

Every day comes with its unique flavor. Every person you interact with will sprinkle you with their cloud of emotion, experience and bias. That's how life is spent, but if you're not careful, the bombardment of accidental stimuli can result in a life full of looming doubts, a vacuum of your personal energy and the brittle candy coat of superficial yadda-yaddas.

What did all that JUST mean? That means that at anytime you are susceptible to a wide range of dream-killers and naysayers. Worse, you could be surrounded by a crowd of half-aware friendly goober heads hell bent on giving you unprocessed gobbledygook that they heard down the road on the Internet. Bottom line, there is a lot of rubbish out there that is simply not helpful.

HOWEVER...

As soon as you enter the front cover of "Just Blow It Up" you are welcomed into the brilliant mind of Dixie Gillaspie as she guides you through:
1. key elements of her journey on becoming a "Blast Thru Artist"
2. lessons learned from the stories of other radically successful "Blast Thru Artists"
3. the wellspring of knowledge that will empower you to embody your highest aspiration
4. VERY practical tools and tips that will allow you to deconstruct and BLAST THRU the WALLS that crop up between where you are now and where you want to go.

This book is bursting at the seams with a truly rich density of REAL ACTION STEPS that you can customize and follow as a blueprint past the "impossible" that has nestled its way on your path.

Buy 2 copies. One to immediately cram full of post-it notes marking all the "A-Ha!" moments and next-step reminders. Another to keep pristine on your shelf as a daily reminder to always say I CAN TOO, JUST WATCH ME!
