5.0 out of 5 stars "The Best Record From This Amazing Duo", July 14, 2011

I have been arguing for years that RCA Records has done a shotty job in releasing Dolly Parton's early albums on compact disc form. Not only is this an insult to Dolly as an artist, who is still the highest-selling female singer in RCA Records history, but an insult to her fans, many of whom have just discovered Dolly and cannot hear her early material because it is simply not available. For this RCA Records should be ashamed.

One of the best records in her huge catalogue of "in studio" albums is this 1968 masterpiece with Porter Wagoner. Going as far as #5 on Billboard's Country Album's Chart and #184 Pop, "Just the Two of Us" is the best record from their nine year collaboration. Filled with 12 songs, the album is exceptional, dateless, and a record that today's listeners would love.

The album produced 2 Top 10 singles, "We'll Get Ahead Someday" and "Holdin' On To Nothin'" (Dolly's favorite song she ever recorded with Porter), and it features the most popular song the duo ever recorded, "Jeannie's Afraid of the Dark" that was written by Dolly. She also wrote (what many critics called " dead baby specials") "The Party", similar in theme to "Jeannie...", as well as the beautiful "I Can".

Other greats here include the title track, "I Washed My Face in The Morning Dew", "Closer By The Hour", and "Somewhere Between".

RCA...wake up and put this classic on CD!!!
