A Definite Favorite,
By
This review is from: Just Doing What I Do (Audio CD)
Marcus has put together a spectacular album of originals as well as familiar tunes ('If I ain't got you). I rarely listen to an album from beginning to end more than once. "Just Doing What I Do" falls in that rare category of albums I put on, lay back and listen to without skipping tracks. It's definately for the grown and sexy....I'm in love with this album!

Marcus Johnson has truly outdone himself on this cd! From the title song "Just Doing What I Do" to the last song, you will experience the "neck factor" as you FEEL this music. Smooth and jazzy tunes (RJ's Groove, 18th & M, Sunday @ Sequoia to name a few) coupled with some upbeat sounds (check out "Love"), make this cd a must buy.....

MJ has outdone himself - this is his best album by far! It really is a perfect mix of familiar tunes and new ones, and you just can't resist moving your "neck to the beat". You can feel the vibe of every musician and soloist featured on this album and the music really touches you. This is a classic and a must have for any jazz collection.

Raising the Bar,

Marcus has done it again. He raised the bar. My father, my sons, and myself loved this CD. Whenever, you can take one CD and have three generations love it, you have a great CD. My favorate song is 'Love' as well as the Alica Keys cover. I wish I knew who the sax player was. I haven't heard any CDs from him but I love his sound. Also, the vocalists were great. He always creates great music with Alyson Williams and the male vocalist, "Scoobie" is incredible. This is a great CD that Marcus created and I thank him for raising the bar.

Just Doing What I Do is the greatest smooth jazz record i've ever heard, hands down. Marcus Johnson has totally outdone himself. Anybody who loves great music needs this record in their collection. I bought two copies, one for the car and one for the house. I can't live without it!

Upbeat and Creative Smooth Jazz,
This review is from: Just Doing What I Do (Audio CD)
This is easily one of the most upbeat and creative smooth jazz albums of all time. It is a fusion of hip hop, soul, R&B and more. It is all held together by Marcus' amazing piano playing. It is quite outside of the box and full of energy. Definitely check out this one. I am looking forward to more from MJ.

When is the last time you picked up a Jazz album with a lot of funk and every cut on the album is good to go? HERE IT IS BABY! This is one of those albums that when you listen to it years down the line, It still sound good. JUST GET IT.
