Italian traveler,

I think one should make an effort to communicate effectively with those in the country where you are traveling. This book allows you to learn as little or as much as you like. I focused mainly on transportation, restaurants and shopping tips. It was very helpful and in my opinion, a necessity for the foreign traveler.

This book was small enough to carry around everywhere and helped me on several occasions. I know zero Italian but I was able to look up phrases as necessary on the fly.

I took this book to Italy with me and it came in very handy. Could pull it out and quickly get to what I needed to speak to a waiter or hotel keeper, train attendant etc. I would recommend it as a handy tool.

Just enough Italian covers just about everything a traveler could want. It leaves you in fact wanting to know more, wanting to know how to say things not just to those you encounter in your travels, but with those you travel with. It makes you want to learn Italian more fully.

This book did provide just enough Italian that I needed for my trip. My only cirtique would be that it could stand to have some more actual phrases rather than a bunch of vocabulary lists but I got by okay :)

This review goes along with the other books of this series- the books are divided into chapters having to do with activities or places. If you want to find how to construct a sentence you have to look in several different parts of the book to do this. I found the books to be non-user friendly and quite frustrating. I do not recommend these to someone like me who TRIES to communicate in the local language. I used a Berlitz when in Paris in 1985 and found it to be much better.

I bought this book for my sister to take with her on a trip to Italy, and she told me it helped big time - of the conversational books that she had, this one was by far the most useful. Just Enough Italian contains lots of content, is easy to browse, and really helps with effective communication for English-speakers in Italy.

This was a great little reference to keep in my bag during my Rome trip. I used it to figure out basic phrases, so that I can at least try to be polite when asking for something in a store or for directions. I always got a reply back in english, so I guess it was pretty obvious. :)
If you look the book over a few times and associate words that you hear frequently in Italian, you really start to pick up [very] basic Italian in a week.

Good little book - small enough to pack. Read it primarily before I went on Italy trip however. Helpful in learning a few key words and phrases.
