5.0 out of 5 stars Where Fact Meets Fiction, May 9, 2004
By

If you like true crime tales short and well-told, this is your collection. Doherty has gathered an interesting group of tales (both historical and contemporary), researched them well, and recounted them in entertaining fashion. As an added bonus, he also tells when and where the true story ended up immortalized in fiction. There are far too few true crime "short story" collections on the market--and this is a welcome addition to that select group. Doherty's cop background and his penchant for research are quite evident, in both his choice of stories and in the telling.

I usually read fiction but on a recommendation decided to read Just the Facts. Great read!!! The writing is tight and the stories are well researched. I agree with Joseph Wambaugh, "Addictive." I hope this becomes a series.
