From the Back Cover

When Lily Sanderson decided to remain Crown Princess Waterlily of the mer kingdom of Thalassinia, she knew she couldn't just coast along in the current. But since she's spent the last couple of years on land, Lily's not sure she has the fins to lead a kingdom. Even her maddeningly pretentious cousin Dosinia seems to know more about ruling than she does.

But Lily has to dive in deep to keep her promise to Tellin, her mer bond in name only, who tells her his kingdom is suffering in the changing ocean climate. Lily knows this is a seven seas–sized problem. They'll need to create some serious waves to make the mer community aware and get it to join together to make things right. Lily has to lead the way, even if that means facing one of the iciest queens in the mer kingdoms.

Just when Lily thinks her double life on land and sea can't get any more complicated, an ancient mer law might separate Lily and her human boyfriend, Quince, after all. It feels as if the pair is up against a solid tsunami wave!

In this third installment in the series that began with Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, Lily will have to find a way to balance safety and justice for the mer people and for the humans she loves.

I stumbled across this series looking for books I could read in my kindle.

The pacing moves along nicely and the characters have really developed, especially Doe, in ways that keep you rooting for them and wanting to read more.
The character growth in this book is really important and I love that it's in a YA book.

Being a mermaid crown princess should be easy. Unfortunately sitting Kings and Queens don't take land loving teenage princesses seriously. Throw in graduation and an impossible test of devotion on Quince's part, and it's a miracle Lily Sanderson isn't pulling her scales out.

In the process of trying to help her newly bonded mermate, Tellen, save his kingdom and people Lily is thrown a huge reality check.Turns out all of her time on land has left Lily out of touch with the concerns of other merfolk, the state of the ocean, and her fellow kingdoms. But she's determaned to make a difference and be a great leader. Unfortunately opposition is growing among her kind and as she struggles to bring the kingdoms together she uncovers some disturbing plans by her fellow mer monarchs.

She'll have to hatch a risky political plan to get her point across and keep the peace between humans and their mythical neighbors.

Just For Fins was just the right mix of young to attract the lower spectrum of the YA audience while not being too childish that it completely turns off the adult crowd. It was also socially aware of environmental concerns without being condescending and overly preachy.

Childs is expanding her world building and giving her heroine a lot of new responsibility. She didn't neglect her secondary characters either giving Doe a much more mature air as well. I really like the growth and challenges the characters had to face. The introduction of all the different kingdoms and monarchs balanced out Lily's growth with a world to match. Even though the romance is a secondary plot compared to the previous books, the author still gives the thread a strong and compelling concept to satisfy the die hard romantics.

Just For Fins is another wonderful installment perfect for any age. It struck just the right balance of growth, maturity, and romance to keep fans happy and looking forward to another summer full of fin filled fairytales.

I loved the first book in the series. The second was ok until near the end. The last book was a waste of good money. I was just totally and utterly disappointed.

The story line was strong in the first book, but it was derailed for me in the direction it went. I enjoy the YA books be cause they remind me of being young and your biggest thought is who you were having a crush on at the time. I do not like too much angst. Life was simple then....

I follow politics closely and have my views. To make the book so political and in a way that I roll my eyes at, was over the top. I actually found myself skimming....something I never do. I thought the tests were weak and that was why I bought the book.

I was ready to recommend this series to my cousin, for his daughters: but the implied baby before marriage, and the politics of the last one, have me keeping my mouth shut and never mentioning it.

Just for Fins picks up where Fins are Forever left off. Where the first book or two focused more on Lily and her boy issues, this final book adds in the environmental aspect of ocean problems. Lily must start taking on her crown role, and she is thrown right into the whirlpool of issues the kingdoms around her have. In addition to that, Quince must face yet another challenge to test whether his relationship with Lily will be forever accepted in the merworld or not.

I genuinely liked Lily and her "voice" in this series. The author allows you to feel and sense her internal and external struggles. We also get to see other characters from the series grow and change, and how Lily herself grows into her role as Crown Princess. The character growth in this book is really important and I love that it's in a YA book. We are also presented with a variety of "ocean problems" and how humans affect the oceans. This came across as appropriate for Lily's situation, yet I didn't feel like the author was overly preachy about things. There were ideas and concerns tossed out there, but I didn't feel like I was being hit over the head with it.

I only wish there was more Quince in the book. While we did get to see him deal with the challenges the merworld threw at him, I missed all the interactions between him and Lily from the previous books (though they did still have some nice moments together). I genuinely liked Lily and Quince, but felt like their relationship and Quince's challenges were overshadowed a bit by the problems in the kingdoms (though understandable since Lily had a lot going on). But I will say the author leaves the series on a good note and I captured a great vision for their future.

I love, love, love this series! The world the author builds is amazing and bright and vibrant. The fins series is just so much fun to read; I can't get enough of Lily and her gang. The characters have grown a lot sicne the first book and I really like the way they have developed.

I love Lily and she gains a lot of confidence over the course of this book. She is dealing with a very serious situation with the mer world, so she kind of has to. Her and Quince still make a great couple and Dosinia has moved from my "annoying" list to my "like a lot" list. It was very interesting to elarn about some other mer kingdoms and see these new places.

The descriptions used were wonderful and I especially liked the Glacialis depiction. Though this book has a more serious subject, there are still plenty of humorous parts. As for the trial with "nearly impossible tests," one seemed pretty difficult, but the other two didn't really seem that bad, or at least not nearly impossible.

I felt the plot was strong and also meaningful. It's awful that more people don't see the damage doen to the oceans and sea life because of how bad teh human race can treat it. It was a perfect issue for Lily to tackle as part of her royal duties. The solution was a brave risk for her and very creative. And the end? Love! I really hope there is at least one more Fins book to be written because I really want to see the product of this ending.

This book was a wonderously colorful world and had characters that just jumped off the page with life. The cover was also incredibly vivid and very fitting for a mermaid book. The Fins series is my favorite mermaid series I've read so far and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this book isn't the last. I highly recommend this series to any and all mermaid lovers.

Full of life, great plot, strong characters, awesome world.
