Book Description

June 19, 2012

It’s summer, sweet summer!

Self-proclaimed Superflirt Dee Barton can’t wait to spend the summer months practicing her Nine Rules of Flirting on all the cute guys who come to stay at her family’s campground. Why not? Flirting is fun and makes everyone involved feel good—which is pretty much the exact opposite of her relationship with her toxic ex-boyfriend, Blaine. Sabrina Owens’s summer plans include keeping her over-the-top karaoke DJ mother in check, maintaining her own status as the queen of the popular crowd, and being the perfect girlfriend to Blaine.

Each girl sees the other as the enemy. But when a secret blog embroils them in a frivolous lawsuit, they must team up and embark on a risky, flirt-filled plot to set things right again.

Laura Bowers’s new novel is a heartfelt and hilarious story of friendship, family…and flirting!

More About the Author

Laura Bowers lives in Maryland with her husband, two teen boys, and one spoiled dog. She enjoys writing, reading, running, watching her kids play sports, and obsessing over her next Disney World trip. Some of her past job titles include waitress, salesperson, telemarketer, secretary, real estate agent, and during her broke college days, a roving character at holiday parades. (The time she had to wear a painful candy cane costume makes quite an interesting story!)

At the age of thirty, Laura decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Many rejected books later, she was inspired to write her first novel, BEAUTY SHOP FOR RENT, by a rusted "for rent" sign posted in front of a charming old house. She later used her fond memories from family camping trips for her next novel, JUST FLIRT, and now, she can honestly say that writing is a thousand times more rewarding than being a candy cane.

4.0 out of 5 stars Live To Read August 15, 2012
By Chels
Format:Hardcover
This lighthearted novel was more than fun to read. A snow storm could be pouring flakes from the sky, but a reader only feels summer heat and sunshine. Two girls are the main characters of this book. They imagine each other as villains and are only connected by a scumbag boyfriend, Blaine, and petty lawsuit. The novel describes their journey as they become stronger and independent. A funny blog and friends help them grow into adults. Dee has never minded spending her summers working for her family business, a campground. She has plenty of opportunity to flirt, swim, and have fun. This summer will be different, however. Sabrina believes her boyfriend Blaine is great. He may not be attentive, or very polite, but Sabrina is prom queen, and Blaine is her king. A blog is also gaining fame, the Superflirt Chronicles, and some people described seem oddly familiar...
Any woman would enjoy reading this book. Ages fourteen and up are appropriate readers for this novel. Bowers wrote Just Flirt to be humorous and fun. Readers will enjoy the girls' funny friends and exaggerated family members. This is a book that can be read again and again.

*Complimentary copy received for review, this in no way affects my opinion*

4.0 out of 5 stars LIGHTHEARTED FUN July 17, 2012
Format:Hardcover
This book is a fun beach read. I am well outside the YA targeted audience but still found it amusing.

This is a story of two teenagers, one who used to date and one who is currently dating a boy named Blaine. Was I the only one with flashbacks of Pretty in Pink? Understandably, they start off as enemies but are soon forced to band together. A blog called the Superflirt causes legal troubles and their solution involves, guess what?, lots of flirting. The adults are over-the-top characters that will appeal to the 13+ crowd. The familiar YA themes of boys, friends and family are all here in the a perfect blend of frothy goodness.

I'm not sure I will remember this story years from now in any detail but it was a great beach book. This book is a fast and fun read that appeals to the young girl in us all who loves the magic of summertime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friendships, troubles and love June 19, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I just finished reading this book and I LOVED IT!!!! Oh my gosh! Each night, I had a difficult time putting it down. This is a story of how lives paths cross and the angst of being a teenager and parent of such. They are friends and enemies but something brings them together to find the truth. This story was very enjoyable. I could hardly wait to see how it all came together at the end. Great friendship story!!
