About the Author

JOHN M. THOMPSON began a spiritual quest in the mid-1970s that eventually led to the formation of Illumination Arts Publishing. The proud parents of four and grandparents of eight, he and his wife Arrieana live in Bellevue, WA.

GEORGE M. SCHULZ began exploring the spiritual dimension of life during his 40-year career as a nuclear engineer. In 2004, he discovered his passion for the art of poetry, opening a rewarding new avenue for his creative expression. Currently living in Renton, WA, George is the father of four and grandfather of four.

How lucky are the children in this wondrous and magical story! As you begin to experience this book, you will immediately notice the beautifully illustrated loving hands. I know they are LOVING hands because they always have the children cupped in one hand and sheltered with the other as they embark on many flights of fancy. In that trusting environment, these children are empowered to allow their imaginations to run free with no limitations because they are always surrounded by love and nestled in safety.

Whether their fantasies send them on a magical trip to the moon, or allow them to explore the swamps and the seas in their very own boat, they find that they can, without apprehension, do anything they can fantasize. How wonderful that feeling of safety must be and how glorious each adventure becomes! From the vantage point of their tree house or the gentle motion of their special swing, these children can still dream, and they can become, whatever they dare to dream. What an idyllic childhood...

George M. Schultz's jewel-toned pictures invite child and caring adult to share a multitude of adventures together. John M. Thompson's appropriately spare text supports some of these possibilities; however, the real treasures are the pictures. One centerfold shows a little boy riding a dolphin, followed by a fleet of sea horses, and behind them children of all colors sitting in a loving hand that keeps them from harm as they explore the wonders of the sea. How delightful it would be to create a story with a child from only that one picture. Another layout shows a family preparing a meal together--and beyond this, a garden, and always the great, omnipresent hands. Even the end papers are unusually charming. The more you look at this book the more you'll see to talk about with your child.
