Book Description

A classic Kathryn Shay contemporary romance—with a time travel twist…

The PORTALS OF TIME trilogy combines heart-wrenching emotions and biting social commentary with unique futuristic elements. Three women travel back from the 26th century to right the wrongs of society today so that humankind can continue to exist. Journey with them as they fight for both the future and the men they unexpectedly come to love.

In JUST IN TIME, Dorian Masters must save the life of research scientist Jess Cromwell by preventing his murder in five months. Cromwell’s work would eventually set the standard for eradicating all carbon emissions. But Dorian has to find the assassin first, while Jess’s brother, Luke, cynical New York cop and exasperating man, seems determined to stand in her way. Unaware of her background, Luke questions her suitability as a bodyguard and challenges her on the mistakes she makes about everyday things, including how she talks. But the stakes are high and together they race against time to save Jess’s life.

Praise for Kathryn Shay’s novels

“Kathryn Shay writes some of the cleanest prose around, and it’s my belief she’d make the Yellow Pages sound interesting if the phone company put her on staff. And Ms. Shay knows her way around a steamy love scene.” The Romance Reader

"Shay does an admirable job with a difficult subject, writing…with sensitivity and realism and without shying away from any of the hard issues." Shelley Mosley Booklist

“What a great book. Controversial subjects handled in a sensitive and yet honest way--characters that just walked off the page, real and warm. The story just kept coming. A heart toucher, about problems with no easy solutions. Wonderful! Don't miss!” A Reader

3.0 out of 5 stars JUST IN TIME March 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If Charlie lived 500 years in the future, he had just sent three very beautiful angels back to save your life because you are the one man that can save their dying world. With a hook that good there is only one direction for a book to go. it is not that the book is bad, it just doesn't measure up to the premise. a further flaw is the writer's heavy handed efforts to force sequels into what God intended to be a single child family. A third strike is the mandatory sex scenes that are painted with a worn out brush. Still, not even formulaic writing completely drown this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yeah...no. February 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yowza...this is crap. I'm about a third of the way in, but...it's painful to read. I don't usually leave reviews.
The writing is juvenile. The whole premise...we don't know anything about your time, but we have the technology to track back to ONE SPECIFIC person who's research would've saved the world, from the evil fracking that destroys the world. *blank stare* Plus, I'm married to a scientist. Author expects WAY too much suspension of disbelief.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me. April 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sorry I love Kathryn Shay's other books but this time travel book just didn't do it. After reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon nothing can compare. Sorry Kathryn.

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get past the awkward language March 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This time travel had the heroine (and friends) coming several hundred years from the future. I could understand that they had a mission to change something to save future humanity. That part of the storyline was okay. However, instead of being advanced, they seemed very inept. Their language sounded awkward and not very advanced for futuristic people. Also, the their perspectives on human relationships were hard to swallow. If I were to go back 400-500 years, I think I could probably understand what was going on and communicate--idioms of the time and all. I love Kathryn Shay's other series, but this one was disappointing for me. I barely made it to the end and will not read the rest.

Interesting story line. Great characters. The profanity wasn't either and took away from the story. Enjoyed reading about time travel.
