Okay, people might be dissing this because Katie Melua does a remake of the popular song "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure, but I love how they included both versions on the soundtrack. To be honest, I think both of them are really good. The Cure's original version still has that dreamy version with Robert Smith's unforgettable vocals, but Katie Melua version is awfully damn good for a remake. It's a slowed down acoustic version and really puts the whole song into awhole new light, really letting see you the beauty in the lyrics: "You're stranger than a thousand dancing angels, twisting in the water, you're just like a dream." The rest of the songs on here are fun as well. I even like Kay Hanely's Iggy Pop remake of "Lust For Life." "Spooky" by Imogen Heap is also not a track to be missed, and of course "Colors" by Amos Lee is a beautiful song as well. The ending tracks are all classical music. Rolfe Kent did a great job on that too. If you loved the movie as much as I did, I would say it's worth it to get the soundtrack. The songs capture the movie pretty well. I would say the only track I didn't get was Jungle Fever, I tend to skip over that one, and "I Put A Spell On You" is the older version.

Fans of the Cure will no doubt disagree, but I like Katie Melua's cover of their "Just Like Heaven" better than the original. (Both versions are in the movie and on this CD.) Melua's soft voice and the guitar work are sublime, and the lyrics, which are kind of lost in the Cure's version, come to the fore in Melua's. The lyrics are also given more meaning after you connect them to what happens in the film, which in my opinion was just about the best movie of 2005.

Another outstanding track is Amos Lee's "Colors," which played towards the end of the film when David (Mark Ruffalo) thought that he had lost Elizabeth's (Reese Witherspoon) love forever.

Honestly, a person could listen to Katie Melua's version of Just Like Heaven and fall in love! And, since you cannot download this song by itself on iTunes, it's worth buying a used version of this soundtrack for just that song alone. Incredible!

Imogen Heap does a most wonderful and breathy version of the song Spooky. Another great song on this soundtrack, and worth buying a used version just for those 2 songs. Of course, there are other great songs on this album, and if you didn't already own them like I did, then by all means, order now.

The music to this film was dreamy and well chosen, and perfect for a film like this. "Just My Imagination," the fun "Lust for Life," and the title song "Just Like Heaven" from The Cure. Not bad. Songs blend together very well. Even The Cars are in there with "Let the Good Times Roll."

Good soundtrack. There is something for everyone, the songs range from very soft romantic melodies (Just Like Heaven, Katie Muella) to more upbeat pop titles (such as Ghostbuster, by Bowling for Soup) with country music and original music made for the movie by Rolfe Kent: Great Variety.

I particularly liked Just Like Heaven, by Katie Muella (the song at the very beginning of the movie), Colors by Amos Lee (Toward the very end) and Just Like Heaven by the Cure (Official movie track). If you loved the movie like I did, you will definitely like the Soundtrack, it will bring you back some memories of the movie while waiting for the DVD release. Enjoy!

This is a great soundtrack. This first song is a soft remake of "Just Like Heaven" that is actually very good and relaxing. The actual song is on the soundtrack also, which I can listen to when I feel nostalgic or want to dance around the room! The cd is a good mix of music from my past and some from the present. It's one of the few I can put on and let play from start to finish.

imdb.com lists a cast member as "Blues Guy": Ron Hacker. Check out www.ronhacker.com. Maybe that's him.

Karen J Ayers response...
I was thinking it was "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. I was just reading on imdb.com's forum how that song was used for one of the trailers but not in the movie. Definitely a great song and it may be the one that's driving you crazy.
