Biography

Hugely successful Grammy nominated R&B singer and songwriter KEYSHIA COLE is set to close out 2008 with a bang. Three (3) songs from her second album reached number one (#1) status -- “Let It Go” (w/Missy Elliott and Lil Kim), “I Remember” and “Heaven Sent.” Her reality show “The Way It Is” became the most-watched program in BET’s history, and with season three having started yesterday, November… Read more in Amazon's Keyshia Cole Store

Editorial Reviews

UK pressing of the Hip Hop/Soul star's 2007 sophomore album featuring two bonus tracks: '(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me' (Radio Version) and 'I Should Have Cheated'. Last year, Keyshia rose to become an R&B phenomenon. USA Today said Cole separates herself from the average R&B/Pop diva, as she makes you feel her heartbreak without the histrionics; and People said Cole shows that she is more than just a pretender on the throne. 5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Get My Heart Back...., December 7, 2007
This review is from: Just Like You (Audio CD)
WTF is with the price?!!!!!! PLEASE, P-L-E-A-S-E don't be Foolish and buy this!!!!

Anyway, What do I know? Maybe they're both neck in neck, in R&B greatness! And the Pop sensibilities are at a strict minimum.

All I know is that Keyshia has been involved in the process of making some catchy songs, some songs of heartache, some songs of life and love, in the form of being a decently-talented singer/songwriter/vocal producer and background singer. Big ups to my girl!

When I heard "Let It Go" for the first, second and third time, I was like, "This is alright, but it ain't no "I Just Want It (To Be Over)/"I Changed My Mind"/"Never"/"Situations", but it's OK..."

Then I heard "Shoulda Let You Go" for the first time on la radio, and that further proved my point.

About 2-3 weeks after that though, "Let It Go" was on my Creative Zen Vision:M 30 GB MP3 and Video Player (Light Blue) and I was enjoying it more. 2 weeks or so later, I saw the "Shoulda Let You Go" video on youtube.

All I had to do was play it again, and I was seriously, SERIOUSLY hooked! It is definitely in my top 5 favorite Keyshia Cole songs EVER!!!! It's catchy and the video as well as the production, gives off a great Summer feel, although Fall is officially here! Not to mention that Keyshia is Hella, Hella sexy in it, and I play for the other team! Haha.

At first, after giving The Way It Is CD a few spins, I was like: "How in the Heck is Keyshia gonna top this?! I mean, FOR REAL!!?"

But she did. Or at the very least, she was in the mix of helping make this album come to be, which is on the same level as her debut, which I'm happy about. This is the first 2007 release that I was truly happy about.
Kelly Clarkson dropped an album that was a grower (meaning that many of the songs had to be played over and over for you to appreciate them completely) and Joss Stone's was also. They are good albums but not great.

But I digress:

Thank you, Miss Keyshia Cole!! And I don't want you to continue to have love problems in the future, but it is those that help you produce some heart-aching R&B goodness!

Top 5 favs in order:

I Remember (Best Keyshia Cole song EVER!)
Shoulda Let You Go (Feat./Introducing Amine)
Losin' You Feat. Anthony Hamilton (the most soulful track on JLY)
Heaven Sent (A bit cliche, but honestly highly enjoyable anyway)
Fallin' Out (In her top 10 best songs, EVER!)
Work It Out

Honorable Mentions: Didn't I Tell You? (It's the first "club banger" in a while, that I've actually liked!! Most of them are usually mindless fun.) and Losing You (Feat. Anthony Hamilton). And also, I appreciate her taking the, "La-Dee-Da-Dee-Da" from Mary J.'s "My Life" track, which is featured on Give Me More - it fit so well!

The main thing about this CD that I didn't like is that Lil' Kim is on "Let It Go". I don't really like nor respect her much, and don't think that she adds anything necessary. Missy was good though. And on Shoulda Let You Go, Amine was annoying at first, but I've grown to like her verse, or at least tolerate it. LOL

Anyway, after listening to this CD, I've come to the conclusions that this is the:

-Best R&B album of the year thus far (I doubt Alicia will beat this; maybe Mariah will though. But both ladies have some work to do to top THIS release, and I'm SERIOUS!!)

-This IS Keyshia Cole's best CD.

-R&B albums (that I've heard) barely ever get better than this!

The only song that is filler is "Was It Worth It?". She repeats herself a lot, saying, "Was it worth it?" But that's where the filler ends, in my opinion.

5 stars!

You're worth it, Keysh!!
