Great little compilation,
By
This review is from: Just a Little Critter Collection (Little Critter) (Hardcover)
This compilation contains seven previously published Little Critter mini-books: "Just for You", "When I Get Bigger", "I Was So Mad", "All By Myself", "Just Go to Bed", "Just a Mess", and "I Just Forgot." Each is a delight. After two months, my three-year old can practically recite every story.
Done in classic Mayer style, the illustrations are all very clever and there is always a subtle lesson of some kind available. Great stuff.

After almost 8 months, this is still a bedtime favorite. My son and I love it. We especially like searching each page for the little spider, mouse and grasshopper. Thanks, Mr. Mayer, for many wonderful evenings of snuggling and reading!

For years my grandchildren have loved Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books. They deal with everyday situations from the point of view of a child. The books are colorful, simple, and beloved by my grandchildren. I recommend unhesitatingly.

Best Little Critter Collection for Your Little Critter!,

My daughter loves Little Critter (what kid doesn't? Its my favorite, too!) She asks me to read her the books every night and we were getting in need of some new stories, so I found this collection for sale. We already had 2 of the books but the price more than made up for the 5 we didn't. She asks me to read all 7 every single night, and we got it two weeks ago, along with other books. She really loves this collection. She sees herself in Little Critter.
"When I'm Bigger" talks about being in 1st grade (she's going into Kindergarten in the Fall) and going to the store by himself and buying boots by himself and all big boy decisions, something all little kids look forward to making, but nothing too far ahead, just far enough to look forward to! "What a Mess", a favorite of ours, finds Little Critter cleaning his messy room in order to locate his baseball mitt. It's hilarious and gets across the message of keeping your room clean so you know where your favorite things are when you need them in a fun way. "I Was So Mad", another favorite, talks about all the naughty things Little Critter wanted to do, that every child can relate to, that adults just kept stopping him from. He keeps getting madder and madder until he decides to run away. But then his friends come along and invite him to play and instantly difuse his temper and he decides he'll run away tomorrow if he's still so mad. "Just For You" In this one Little Critter keeps trying to help his mom but everything he does he messes up. He tries to carry the groceries and the bag breaks. He tries to set the table but is distracted by t.v., etc., It's kind of an ode to Mommy, very sweet and again, relatable. "Just Go to Bed" This Breaks down the bed time ritual in all of our homes. Little Critters playing and his Dad say's time to come in, but in a playful way, going along with Little Critter's imagination. Then Little Critter's playing in his room as a Space Cadet and Dad captures the Space Cadet for his bath and so on, a fun story leading up to bedtime. "Sometimes I Forget" Like all kids, Little Critter forgets. This story talks about all the things he's good and remembering but how sometimes he just forgets. It's a good reminder to parents that sometimes our kids have a little memory and need reminding and try their best. I like the end, that there is one thing Little Critter never forgets, his bedtime story, my daughter always chimes in, "and me neither!" "All By Myself" This story talks about all the things Little Critter can do all my himself; getting dressed, brushing his fur, feeding his baby sister and watching her. A lot of the same things our Little Critters can do all by themselves! All in all a great collection and more than worth the $10! A great investment for your Little Critter, they'll be thanking you every night as they ask you over and over again to reread their favorite new storybook collection! I know mine does enough that I wrote this review by memory and can recall every story as I wrote it word for word, lol, and soon you will too.

I grew up reading Little Critter books and my son now loves them. I like this book because it has several stories in it and it's cheaper than purchasing the individual paperback books. I highly recommend this book.

Good Core Little Critter Selection,
This review is from: Just a Little Critter Collection (Little Critter) (Hardcover)
This is a very good introduction to Little Critter to be used either for reading to a toddler/kid at bedtime or for kids able to read a couple sentences at a time. Good collection.

Can't deny that my three-year old is nuts about this one,

My three-year old was introduced to the Little Critter series when he was two, and the magic hasn't dissipated for him since then. He is absolutely bananas for this collection, which is especially good for bedtime as it has several stories that end with bedtime or end of the day activities (bath time, bed time, clean-up time). One story deals with Critter's anger at not being allowed to do many things that he wants to do (paint the house, fill the tub with frogs, run through clean sheets, etc). which is especially relatable for my small child. Another story recounts all the things that little Critter wanted to do to help, but couldn't quite do correctly (poo juice for baby sister, make eggs for breakfast, etc). All told I think that this book (though admittedly not my most favorite) is sure to be a hit with most toddler - preschool age children.

Our toddler can not get enough Mercer Mayer. We have been reading his books to her ever since she was one -- she's 2.5 now. She has always loved the detailed illustrations; looking for the critter's pals: the spider, puppy, and mouse. When I was reading the stories on my own I really couldn't appreciate their simplicity and sweetness. Reading them with your child you will realize how easily they can grasp the stories and how much the artwork adds to the reading experience. Also highly recommend his There's Something There! Three Bedtime Classics" -- 3 of his classics by Barnes & Noble publishers: "Nightmare in my closet; Nightmare in the Attic; Alligator under my bed".

My 2 Year Old's Favorite Book!,
This review is from: Just a Little Critter Collection (Little Critter) (Hardcover)
My 2 year old loves these stories, and this is the book he asks for EVERY night. He giggles and smiles through every story. Now he is even starting to remember the stories and tries to "read" them to me. I love it!
