Tara Slone, former lead singer of Joydrop, competed on a little show back in 2005 called "Rock Star: INXS", which showcased a lot of talent. She was eliminated 8/3/2005, but her sound stayed with me and I've been looking forward to her solo CD ever since then.

"Just Look Pretty And Sing" is full of smooth pop-rock, radio-friendly sound. "My Little Secret" starts us off rockin' and the tempo works its way down through "It Never Comes" until we get to a great cover of "Suffragette City", which Tara also covered on Rock Star: INXS. There is also a song she performed with Joydrop, "American Dreamgirl".

If I had any gripes, it would be that the French version of "My Little Secret" isn't entirely in French. Also, most of the songs are slower songs and I generally prefer faster music. However, Tara is extremely talented and she still delivers a solid CD here, so neither of those issues was enough to take away from my five-star rating. I look forward to hearing more of her. I just recently discovered Joydrop and Tara Sloan. This Cd is really great. Tara's vocals are just amazing. I don't know how Tara and Joydrop never hit my radar screen but thats alright its new to me and I have to listen daily.

After the two years of the Rockstar TV show, most of the contestants fell off the map. Those that kept plugging away are a mixed bag. In terms of quality, Marty Casey has probably released the best albums since then. Number two on my list is Tara Slone. This album and the Viberate album she recorded as part of Joydrop are excellent. Power pop tunes with high quality songwriting and catchy tunes, all with Tara's amazingly beautiful voice. I can't wait to hear more from her, she can sing the phone book and I'll buy it.
