2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best Keith Sweet. May 21, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I was really excited when I saw this album was out. I purchased it immediately. I was anticipating classic Keith Sweat with a modern swing. He will be in concert in my area soon and I wanted my CD in hand! However, I have not been impressed. I have not been able to listen to an entire song. His voice has changed dramatically and the producers just grabbed some beats off the back shelf and dusted them off.

This album has received strong reviews. But if you really want to know if the album is good, listen to the samples. They will help you decide. I wish I would have done this first. Since I can't get my money back, I am glad the CD was on sale.

One thing is for sure, Keith still looks great! I am still a fan, just not a fan of this particular album.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's back May 13, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Its been quite awhile since we've seen a new Keith Sweat cd.

But with Just Me the wait is over and it feels like he never left as his voice is still recognizable and solid as ever before.

Just Me has 12 tracks and each one of them could easily be a solid single release on the R&B/Pop charts. With such artists as Paisley Bettis, Keyshia Cole and Athena Cage on various songs it only serves to show how Keith continues to churn out great music for whatever purpose you like.

Songs of note on Just Me:

2. The Floor
3. Girl of My Dreams
4. Sexiest Girl
5. Butterscotch (Athena Cage)
7. Suga, Suga, Suga (Paisley Bettis) currently charted on R&B charts
9. Love You Better (Keyshia Cole)
12. Teach Me

The cd as a whole is on par with some of his earlier releases (Make It Last Forever, Keith Sweat). But make no mistake this one isn't a rehash of his earlier works each and every song here. Is something that you really need to hear and listen to as well. So make it a point of getting "Just Me" by Keith Sweat and keep supporting on the singers out their still doing music their way and very well. I might add.

4.0 out of 5 stars Check this CD out July 27, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I'm very impressed with this CD. I usually download my music but I had to buy this CD. I've always been a big fan of Keith Sweat. Some people did't like him because they say he whines in his music. My stand on that is if you are a true Keith Sweat fan, none of that mattered. Whining has always been his style I mean come on, isn't that what made the women hot all over? His new "Just Me" CD is straight on with alot less whining for all the haters. The first time I put it in my car I was like wow! Keith is back in full affect with this new hit just like the oldschool jams he would woo the ladies with and put the fellas in the mood. Keith is back ladies and gentlemen! Big ups!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing... July 17, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I grew up listening to Keith Sweat and he was always known as a whiner. This is the only cd I listen to back and forth to work. I LOVE this cd. Keith Sweat has come back hard. On one or two records he does whine, but the cd is great. I've been spreading the word about this cd. I just hope his label does right by him. The music on this cd is amazing to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars He put some blood, SWEAT and tears into this album June 29, 2008
Format:Audio CD
The cover of "Just Me" contains a picture of Keith Sweat with a suit on, staring into the camera with a serious look on his face. This album cover gives listeners a clue as to what kind of tone the album has. This album has a very relaxed and mature tone to it. I have heard a great deal of Keith Sweat's music on the radio, but I never listened to any of his LPs. If his past work is as pleasing as "Just Me", I have no problem taking a listen to it. I enjoyed every song on this album. Sweat is known for "whining", but his whining on this album is very minimum. He is doing much more crooning than begging this time around.

Most of the tracks found here are ballads. There are a few mid-tempo cuts, but there is nothing really fast here. Further, the vast majority of this music is about women and all-out sex. While Sweat is usually remotely tasteful, he gets pretty raunchy sometimes. Personally, I don't mind that, but more conservative individuals will have a problem with the raunchiness. The album begins with a wonderful song called "Someone." I replayed this song over and over again! Sweat has a nice falsetto voice that I never knew about; he uses it through this entire song. The hook, lyrics and production are all creative. This song is the best on "Just Me." The second best moment is a song called "Butterscotch." This is another sexy ballad that will get you plenty of advances if you were to play it in the bedroom with your mate. The lyrics say "You're qualified, let's do what freaks do." Sweat gives us lots of energy on "Me and My Girl." This mid-tempo number has a nice beat and a catchy hook. In "Teach Me", Sweat tells a lady that he will teach her new sexual techniques and he hopes that she is a quick learner.

1.0 out of 5 stars We have lost Keith Sweat May 13, 2008
By Nique
Format:Audio CD
1.) One of the weakest Sweat's albums. Awful and cheap trying to be modern and commercial. No live instruments, stupid loops, cheap programming, primitive lyrics. K.Sweat have noting to say any more..I advise him to think about what true music should be..beautiful, meaningful,
Go back and check 90s music Keith! Stop doin this trendy commercial so called "r&b" in Akon style
What about jazz Keith? )) You can check what Zhane have been doig with jazz back in the day. It was MUSIC

2)This is the second part of my review about this album and i have to say that i decided to edit this review because of many fanatic reviews dissin the "haters"
Which kind of music do you give 5 stars, fellows? - classic commercial urban r&b, welded on all worthless canons of 2008. Once the 90s left, the very last of good mainstream R&B left. No more ingenuity, originality, no more real instruments, no more deep, meaningful subject matter. It's always the same melodies and the same boring lyrics., lets freak, i wanna sex you.... Can somebody tell me what Keith is singing about on his last 3 albums? "I'll trade a million bucks", "Just Wann Sex You"? It's mega primitive tunes for youth.. The last of his songs wich i can call "qualitative" are "Just Another Day" and "In Your Eyes" from 98. 10 (!!!) years old. These songs have CLASS.These songs were sung stretchedly, lingeringly, beautifully, with pauses, fine articulation, with emotion,
But how can be "Just Me" album rated in 5 stars?!!! No lyrics, no good sining, no music, no decent bassline, no melody. only fake studio beats overpowering everything
Keith just makin his money, he want to sell his records. He's more businessman than the musician. And all of you who gave this album 5 stars just helped him to make his money!

Good ol' Keith Sweat, still bringing his familiar, and doing it well
You're right. I just previewed the songs and I must say this comes pretty close to Keith's mainstream masterpiece "Keith Sweat" back in 96. So happy that he's back :)
