5.0 out of 5 stars A terrific pop/rock CD! Tiffany keeps getting better and better!
Tiffany's 2001 album "Color of Silence" is a masterpiece; that album proved that Tiffany was more than a teeny-boppin' has-been. This lady has potential as a prominent rock singer. 3.0 out of 5 stars It is okay, and has some great moments, but isn't stellar
This album has a quirky mix of pop, country, and gospel. It is positive and family/kid friendly.

I'm not a fan of country, however, so while I really like the songs that are more pop, I find I skip a few tracks, like "Mind Candy."

Tiffany wrote or co-wrote many of the songs, and unfortunately, they feel like they need a bit more work. "Hiding...

Tiffany's 2001 album "Color of Silence" is a masterpiece; that album proved that Tiffany was more than a teeny-boppin' has-been. This lady has potential as a prominent rock singer. Next came her spirited, terrific dance album "Dust Off and Dance". Another first-rate effort. And now Tiffany arrived with her third big-time winner in a row! "Just Me" is filled with sophisticated, lively, awesomely produced pop-rock music. Seven of the songs were co-written by Tiffany, and man on man! She and her writing partners sure can write a great hook and amazing lyrics!

The album's single "Feels Like Love" is a rather misleading track. It's kind of light and fluffy, more along the lines of what people who are familiar with Tiffany's '80s albums would expect. But the album gets more complex from there. Sure, there are love songs. But there are also songs filled with self-examination -- and there's even a highly moving song about homelessness.

The song "Just Me" is nothing short of an anthem. I hum along to it, and I feel better about myself. It's just very uplifting. Most of these songs are. I am also a huge fan of the songs "Hiding Behind The Face" and "Calling Out Your name" -- great rock and roll. But all the songs here are gems. Not a stinker in the bunch. And to the reviewer who did not like "Anyone But Me", are you serious? That is a kickass track!! And it has a powerful message!

All in all, this is a thoroughly satisfying musical experience. I expected it to be good, but I was not prepared for how delicious a collection this is. I recommend this, even to people who are not familiar with Tiffany's other recent work. Oh, and buy "Color of Silence" if you don't have it. That is Tiffany's best album. But this one is a close second!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great result, June 6, 2007

I was talking to my brother the other day about Tiffany's new album "Just Me" and how I felt it was another strong CD. I told him that of course it will more than likely not sell well.

We both agreed that public perception of Tiffany was working against her and not the quality of her work. He went on to tell me that when he discusses Tiffany's recordings with anyone in his encounters in life, he usually gets the same negative reaction, "Tiffany? The teenybopper, I think We Are Alone Now Tiffany?" The same response based on very little facts.

Well anyway, here is how my brother summed it up, "You see - these people that have the misconstured perception of Tiffany - just have not evolved in their lives. Tiffany's talents have - but they have not." I agree - Tiffany has evolved into quite the professional, and "Just Me" reflects it.

1. Feels Like Love - Strong single - strong song. Why I especially love this song is that it is very simple. Tiffany is what makes this song. Her vocals definitely raise the bar here. 9 of 10

2. Just Me - Love the lyrics, love the message - 9 of 10.

3. Be Alright - another great addition of self-examination tracks on the CD. Tiffany vocals are very suited for this song. 7 out of 10.

4. Hiding Behind the Face - Yet another very well written song co-penned by Tiffany. Great message - great vocals. 9 of 10.

5. Calling Out Your Name - I like her interpretation - 6.5 out of 10.

6. Mind Candy - great great cover - 9 of 10.

7. Anyone But Me - The one real weak spot on the record - and it is a good song - 5 of 10.

8. Streets of Gold - Terrific cover!!! The vocals are phenomenal. 9 of 10.

9. This Love - Good Effort - 2nd worst song on the CD - 6 of 10.

10. Winter's Over - Best song on the CD - co-written by Tiffany, this song is pure emotion and very real. Tiffany managed to write and record a song about love without being sappy. Her love is real - we all can relate to realness :) 10 of 10.

11. I Will Not Breakdown (9 of 10) - a great pop song and Tiffany delivers. This is the best song that is not co-written by Tiffany on "Just Me", and it leads me to my conclusion.

I would like this album no matter what; it just has too many good songs!!! Definitely buy this - it is worth it. However, what totally surprised me, is that aside from two great remakes (Mind Candy and Streets of Gold), the BEST songs on this CD are co-written by Tiffany. Just Me, Winter's Over, Feels Like Love, and Hiding Behind The Face are the songs that elevate this album. The fact that Tiffany co-wrote all of them has blown me away. This record is a must have.

As an aside, producer Brad Pressman does an incredible job. All songs and production values fully compliment Tiffany's voice and style. He definitely knew how to bring out the best in Tiffany.

This CD is not going to be a #1 record. However, because of the strength of the songs, this CD is going to sell well over time. And lastly, I did really enjoy "The Color of Silence" - it was a very strong record. I like this record better, because I really feel it more smartly was created to focus all of Tiffany's strengths. And I will mention "Dust Off and Dance" (and I like this CD) just to mention more recent works. But as a buyer, "The Color of Silence" and "Just Me" are better records! This is just my opinion.

I have not written very many reviews but I just have to write this one to say that This is a Great CD and that I agree with the review from Andrew except, and this is the real reason for the review he rated my Favorite song on the CD as the "second weakest song on the CD" "THIS LOVE" happens to be the BEST SONG on the CD. I have Every CD Tiffany has ever released including her Imports and have to say "THIS LOVE" is a 10 out of 10 Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hold An Old Friends Hand, June 24, 2007

Tiffany strays away from the all dance sound that she did so well in 2005 with `Dust Off And Dance' and gets back to the singer-songwriter sound of her best yet CD (in my opinion) of 2000's `The Color Of Silence' without missing a beat. Tiffs voice is in superb form and the music/lyrics is as catchy as when she first came out 20+ years ago minus the cheesiness.

Her leadoff single is "Feels Like Love" which is a pretty simplistic melody but with Tiffany's voice she breathes such life into the song. You will be humming and singing it in no time.
Every song just falls into place on this set offering a different glimpse into Tiffany's life right now. Each song offers something different and the lyrics are raw and the hooks are very melodic and radio friendly at the same time. For such an underrated artist Tiffany just keeps coming out with CD after CD and pleases her fans everywhere. `Just Me' is no exception to that rule - it's a very personal CD with a lot of emotion in every song.

Check these out:
"Just Me"
"Hiding Behind the Face"
"Mind Candy" - more of a rock edge to it. A really great song.
"Winter's Over" - genius

A great CD from start to finish. I highly recommend it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars It is okay, and has some great moments, but isn't stellar, December 8, 2008
This review is from: Just Me (Audio CD)
This album has a quirky mix of pop, country, and gospel. It is positive and family/kid friendly.

I'm not a fan of country, however, so while I really like the songs that are more pop, I find I skip a few tracks, like "Mind Candy."

Tiffany wrote or co-wrote many of the songs, and unfortunately, they feel like they need a bit more work. "Hiding behind the Face" is one in particular that has a great starting point, but sounds forced and just doesn't quite work. Likewise, "I Will Not Break down" is a very good song that just needs a few more finishing touches.

"Anyone But Me" is my favorite song on this album with a catchy melody and great message. "Streets of Gold" is a gospel song and easily the most memorable and powerful. "This Love" is also excellent and is a pure pop song.

This isn't a slick & expensively produced album you typically get with big-named artists. It is more of a blue collar worker that puts out honest and heart-felt material that falls where it will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Tiffany is back, November 2, 2010
This review is from: Just Me (Audio CD)
I'm a child of the nineties, but not so long ago I got into the 'eighties music phase' in my life; That's the point when I've discovered Tiffany and her great songs from over twenty years ago... She, indeed, was gone from the music-map for some years, but in 2000 she was back with her magnificent come-back album "The color of silence".
Tiffany always had a mature voice, well beyond her years, and as a teenager she was so impressive. But - if you only listen to her as a teen-queen, you're really missing out on something very good and full of quality - her latest albums as a singer-songwriter. Yeah, she started, at-last, to write her own tunes, at least some of them! And she's very good at writing, also! Gone is the carefree feel of the eighties, say hello to the maturity and cleverness of the new Millenium!
This album from 2007, 'Just Me' feels light on the surface with its soft pop-rock feel, with some ballads thrown in, but actually some of the songs have a very serious subject to them. I have listened countless times to this wonderful album, and I just hope so much she will release a new one soon! Thought, at first, that I'll prefer Debbie Gibson's come-back albums, but no - Tiffany is better in progressing and she became a great singer with a unique and rich voice, clever writing and a masterful production! My favorites here are the happy 'Feels Like Love', the philosophic 'Hiding Behind The Face' & 'Anyone But Me', the touching song about the homeless, 'Streets Of Gold' (just Tiff & the piano! A very special and dark mood!), and the sad but effective ballad 'The Winter's Over'.
What a wonderful hidden jewel is this album. If I could, I would give it seven stars, it's that good!
And a message to Tiffany - you're welcome any day on my Stereo System with your marvelous songs! Continue with the fantastic job!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as her older stuff, July 16, 2010
This review is from: Just Me (Audio CD)
This album is OK as far as pop goes. I feel it lacks the heart and soul of her early work and didn't feel like she poured her everything into it. It's nice for background music, but I rarely listen to it for mood music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tiffany better than ever, September 13, 2009

I have been a fan of Tiffany's since the late 80's. Tiffany has grown as a songwriter, and her vocals are as good as ever. I now have three of Tiffany's CD's. Greatest Hits, Dust off and Dance, and now this. Tiff is very diversified, and can do alot of different things. This was different for her, and it is rather good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grateful Australian Fan, February 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Just Me (Audio CD)
It's been sometime since Tiffany release any material in Australia and it was only via the internet that I have become familiar with her lastest releases. I truly enjoyed this album. Though not as aggressive as "The Color Of Silence" it is obvious that Tiffany has matured as a singer and now competent songwriter but still in the guitar pop / rock vain.
