I've lost track of the number of portable chargers I've purchased for my Iphone 3G/Itouch 1G/Ipod Classic 160Gb that have been worthless. I came across this unit and told myself "If this doesn't work, I just give up!" Got it home, let it fully charge off my my PC's USB port, then gave it a try. It WORKS!! I can get between 3-5 charges off of it before needing to recharge the unit. Best out there.

This has far more power (4400 mAh) of any charger - enough to fully recharge my iphone 3g more than three times. It is not large or heavy - easy to carry around - fits in the palm of my hand and has smooth rounded corners that make it comfortable to grasp. It is about 3/4 the length of a credit card and about the same thickness as the width of my index finger.

It can also charge any mini-usb mp3 player or device with the included cable (usb to mini-usb) that it comes with (same cable that it charges with.) It does not come with an iphone / ipod cable.

Since it is so small and light, I find this a much better solution than having a one piece battery pack always attached to the iphone, making the iphone uncomfortably bulky during use. I much prefer to keep the Gum Pro and a cable in my pocket to charge or use only when needed. Of course on a plane or in the car, just stow it on your lap or in the seat pocket.

Can't beat the $60 price for the power and convenience. For $7.60 expedited shipping, Amazon vendor Macsense had it from California to my mailbox in Connecticut 3 days after I ordered it.

I couldn't be happier with this.

I got my battery pack about a week ago, and have used it a couple of times. The first time was when I was laying in bed reading an eBook with Stanza, and got the 10% remaining iPod battery alert. I plugged in the Gum battery pack, and continued reading while the iPod battery recharged. The iPod battery charged to full bars, and there was still 3 bars left on the Gum Pro battery pack.

The only negative comment I have is that the detents for the on/off switch are weak/nonexistent, so the battery pack can turn itself on/off by accident. I suspect the switch on mine is defective in terms of the 'clicking' on and off, but the actual switching of electricity works fine. Not worth sending it off to get it replaced unless the electrical switch itself fails.

Overall, I've been very pleased with the Gum Pro. It's super-high capacity, and yet compact.

I originally purchased this charger as a companion to my iPhone 3GS, since the internal battery has trouble surviving an 18-hole golf round using some GPS software the whole time. In that capacity it works brilliantly, and I've since used it for other events where I was running the phone constantly for an extended period while away from another power source. This charger fully re-charges the iPhone at least twice before needing to be re-charged, itself. It might go a third time but I haven't tried that.

I also discovered this charger works just fine for the iPad. The iPad is sensitive to USB power sources, normally needing 10W to start charging (some laptop USB ports and standard iPod/iPhone chargers won't work, for example). I'm pleased to say this charger packs plenty of punch, and the iPad goes into charge mode as soon as you plug it in.

It's been noted by other reviewers the on/off switch for the charger can be accidentally activated when it's in a carry bag or purse. This is very true, I've had the same problem. I solved it by keeping the charger (and its cords) in a small "zip lock" style bag before putting it into the carry bag. This protects the switch from being bumped by other objects and has resulted in zero accidental activations in the several months I've had it in my "man purse."

This battery is supposed to give multiple charges to an iPhone, but I've never actually been able to confirm this because nearly every time I pull it out of my bag, it's on (there's an on/off switch). I've moved the battery around to different pockets in my bag, trying to keep it from switching on, but it appears it's just too sensitive. As another reviewer said, the on/off switch feels cheaply made, and I actually thought my battery was dead for good after two months, until I plugged it into my comp and jammed the switch to "off" as hard as I could (apparently it's very sensitive to turning on, very difficult to turn off). So, if you want a battery that you can keep in your desk or somewhere else that it won't move around at all, this will work. If you want a battery you can take with you and, you know, not have to hold it the whole time for fear of it turning on and draining itself, look elsewhere.

This charger was great, while it lasted. I ran the battery on this down maybe once every 2 weeks. Initially I could recharge my phone about 3 times. After 4 months or so, that was down to barely more than once. After 8 months, the device no longer holds a charge at all. For $60 I would expect this to last longer than it did.

Works with the iPhone 4! The Gum Mobile Pro charger is small and powerful. I started with the iPhone 3G, now I have the 4 and it works flawlessly. It took me a while to decide to order it, wish I had done it sooner. Since, I have given them as presents to friends with iPhones. It simply is the best battery backup that you can get. I tried a few other brands that couldn't even charge the 3G iPhone. Thought about the kind that slide on the back, but I've seen them peel screen protectors and now they won't work with the new iPhone shape. Also, this can charge other types of devices.

If you travel, it's a necessity; you can get more than enough full charges out of it. Best part is knowing you can charge your phone when you can't find the elusive airport electrical outlet or in-seat power on the plane. More than once, it has charged several phones on a flight.

Charges with the Apple charger. The on/off switch is great. Capacity is rated much higher than others available. It's really smaller than it looks.

I've had the battery for around a month now and it works great. I get about 3 iphone charges each time. small, lightweight, and easy to use.

This product has literally changed my life! I've had my iPhone for some time, and the battery life was beginning to diminish substantially. Unless I was in my car, I generally had no way to recharge my phone. This little charger has made sure I never have to be worried about being out of touch. I haven't had any trouble with it shutting off, but I read all of the reviews before I bought it, so I keep it in a stationary place where it is unlikely to rub against anything that would cause the switch to trip. All in all, a great product at a great price!

The Mobile Go Pro has given me the service and value that I needed. I can now do my 3 1/2 hour bike ride with my iPhone in full use: iTunes playing, screen illuminated to full, GPS running, and the phone at ready. After the end of the ride, I still have 2 out of 3 lights that indicate charge left and when I unplug the device from the iPhone it is FULLY charged.

The device is a little heavy and the cord that attaches the Pro to the iPhone is longer than I like, but these are minor quibbles considering I can use my iPhone the way I want to and as long as I need to.
